We have both full and part-time positions available for the summer, with the potential to continue afterwards for those interested.

Position Summary

Kaplan International Teachers are responsible for all aspects of classroom management within their designated classes, as well as adherence to the Kaplan curriculum, helping international students achieve their academic goals through English language instruction and preparation for standardized tests. We are looking for charismatic, talented, and professional teachers who can provide international students with an outstanding educational experience.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Work with academic supervisor to improve delivery of Kaplan academic programs
• Attend staff meetings and in-house workshops; participate in ongoing teacher training programs
• Teach lesson in-class following all COVID-19 safety protocols
• Demonstrate a positive and 'team building' attitude in the workplace
• Tutor students as assigned and if available
• Maintain accurate record keeping for daily attendance and student performance
• Accept and incorporate feedback on classroom performance to ensure positive and meaningful student experience
• Complete all paperwork within required deadlines
• Maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning, including maintaining classroom facilities
• Teach classes using Kaplan curriculum, across multiple levels, as assigned
• Effectively communicate with school administrative staff regarding planned and unplanned absences; provide clear instructions and materials for substitutes
• Become familiar with and adhere to company policies and procedures
• Prepare lesson plans according to established syllabus

Minimum Qualifications

• Superior skills in creating a dynamic, interactive classroom experience
• TESL Certification or equivalent
• Bachelor's Degree
• Approved TESOL Certificate or equivalent
• Demonstrated team building skills in the workplace
• Must be authorized to work in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to work a flexible schedule
• One or more foreign language ability
• Experience with industry, international students and/ or overseas teaching experience
• Experience teaching Test Preparation courses (IELTS, TOEFL and Cambridge), University Pathways courses and/or Business courses
• 3+ years of experience teaching ESL in a group setting
