Status: Temporary Full-Time


Duration: 14 months


Purpose


To support paramedic services operations by maintaining all equipment and supplies required for paramedic services in accordance with County Policy, Provincial Acts/Standards and Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) Certification Standards.


Medical Supplies and Equipment Inventory


  • Regularly notify Operations Manager of inventory situations (weekly or as required).
  • Reconcile new inventory delivery with packing slip and put away as appropriate.
  • Prepare daily inventory required at stations for supervisor delivery.
  • Fill monthly inventory orders for stations to be delivered by the Duty Supervisor.
  • Regular liaising with the Duty Supervisor to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Rotation of inventory to limit expiry and wastage.
  • Monitor inventory of oxygen, cleaning supplies and linen.
  • Monitor electronic failure reports and vehicle and equipment checks to resolve and document remediation of deficiencies.
  • Monitor inventory of medical supplies, equipment and drugs in the central supply room.


Medical Equipment, Technological Equipment, Station Maintenance and Repair


  • Assist with arranging for the repair of deficiencies at stations as they arise.
  • Troubleshoot minor defibrillator problems as directed by vendor customer support, coordinate replacement part delivery and pickup for return, assemble service loaner defibrillator for use (checked by supervisor), package and return defective unit to vendor for service as required.
  • Responsible for providing Reception Services for Equipment Supply Inquiries
  • Arrange for replacement of lifting, oxygen and defibrillator equipment as required.
  • Assist with the returning of radio equipment to Central Area Communications Center for repair.
  • Answers telephone calls, emails and electronic forms for equipment and supply inquiries.
  • Assist with coordinating yearly quality testing of defibrillators.
  • Ensure lifting equipment maintenance program followed and documented as per policy. Maintain data base of all lifting equipment testing and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot minor laptop computer issues with technical support. Arrange for computer return to if repair required.
  • Ensure oxygen equipment testing program is followed and documented as per policy. Maintain database of all oxygen equipment testing and maintenance.


Liaise with Managers, Supervisors, Paramedics, Suppliers, Base Hospital staff, CACC, MOHLTC, and other County departments.


  • Maintains communications with staff at various bases via telephone, email, electronic forms and inter-office mail.


Other Duties


  • Assist with facilitating cleaning and restocking of response bags.
  • PAD site spot checks to ensure proper adherence to Grey County PAD program policies.
  • Performs such other associated duties and tasks as may be assigned from time to time.
  • Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) site visits for quality and assurance purposes.
  • Responsible, as an employee, for occupational health and safety practices.
  • Assist with uniform replacement program.


Working Conditions


Works primarily in administrative office locations. Works in an accessible area with visitors and staff who require assistance and information. Will be required to work occasional overtime to meet demands of the job.

Contact with Suppliers, Repair Personnel, Contractors, Couriers and the General Public.


Knowledge and Skill


  • Knowledge of emergency medical services system and products would be an asset.
  • Must be able to obtain a MOHLTC identification card as per the legislation (Ambulance Act).
  • Experience and knowledge of computers, clerical and accounting procedures are necessary.
  • Must have Class G license in good standing.
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of business office and office equipment is essential.
  • Ability to work effectively with elected and appointed officials, other staff and the general public.
  • Excellent technical keyboarding skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information, deal with constant interruptions, and to work independently of close supervision.
  • General mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.
  • Post-secondary school education with specialty in Office or Medical Administration.


Impact of Error


Errors result in delays, disruptions and duplication of effort.


Errors in the tracking of maintenance of equipment could result in compromised safety standards and/or lead to unnecessary maintenance costs.


Miscommunication and breach of confidentiality could result in unfavourable relations between staff, council and the public.
