Position Summary

We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to bring your expertise to help keep our community safe.


Reporting to the Team Lead - Environmental Health and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization, the Environmental Health Officer is responsible for carrying out a diverse program of environmental health protection. Using a variety of professional and technical skills, the position reduces the incidence of communicable disease, injury and health hazards; performs technical assessments; provides consultative and education services; ensures that community development does not conflict with a healthy environment; ensures compliance with environment health legislation, policy and standards.


Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday / Days - 08:30 to 16:30


New Wage: As of April 1, 2023, the new wage is: $37.65 - $47.01/hour


Fort St. John is located above the Peace River Valley, and has a diverse population of 21,000 (2021)and serves an area of approximately 69,000. Qualfications


  • Current valid BC Driver's License.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a health-related discipline; must have a Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada).

Demonstrated ability in the use of e-mail and word processing. Ability to operate other related equipment as required in the specific practice area.

  • Teaching: Ability to teach clients and others both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Management: Demonstrated ability to organize work, set objectives and establish priorities. Manages time and resources, implements activities to promote cooperation among the interdisciplinary team, supervises responsibilities of others, and collaborates across disciplines.
