About The Team

The Web Presence & Platform team at Stripe is a group of interactive designers, front-end specialists, web strategists, platform engineers, and every skill set in-between. We design and build what is, for many, their first impression of Stripe. We are strategic owners for stripe.com, link.com and press.stripe.com. We want to make every pixel count, we want it to be enthralling, and we want to help other Stripes seamlessly benefit from our systematic work.

There are several teams under the banner of Web Presence & Platform (WPP) at Stripe: Storytelling, Moments, Tooling and Infrastructure. Together, these teams focus on the craft of our web pages—UX design, frontend code, information architecture and SEO. The Tooling & Infrastructure teams support them and other partners around Stripe by ensuring there’s a fast, efficient technology platform on which to build and run these pages.

What you’ll do

We are looking for an experienced engineering leader who can shape the vision and craft of the entire WPP engineering team, and personally lead a group of engineers. This person will be both a manager of managers across multiple teams and support talented IC engineers.

Engineers on WPP take on a variety of missions. From creating easy to use tools and increasing velocity for our team and our internal customers, to building a blazing fast site, we are focused on performance and ease. We’re equally obsessed with and passionate about the experience our current and future customers have on our site, and aspire to set the standard for what they can expect from Stripe. Our site is beautiful, functional, aspirational and performant. You’ll lead the team that makes all of these things possible.

You’ll foster the individuals on your team, providing support for their work and acceleration for their growth. You’ll trust and empower the leaders on your team. You’ll partner with WPP’s leadership to devise and deliver on roadmaps focused on the strategic experiences we bring to our users. You’ll develop and foster a collaborative team that is excited to meet you.

Responsibilities

• Manage processes to help the team do its best work and engage effectively with the rest of Stripe
• Give your team the agency in their work to shape outcomes they can proudly own
• Help your team partner closely with our user research team to better understand the audiences for the experiences they build
• Develop the long-term vision and strategy for the WPP Engineering team, prioritize accordingly, and create an execution roadmap
• Help your team focus on what they do best, and give them the opportunities to sharpen the skills they’re looking to develop
• Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Stripe’s engineering management team
• Provide an environment in which they can thrive both as an individual, and as a member of a diverse community
• Develop engineering leaders on the team, helping them advance in their careers
• Mentor and coach engineering managers and senior engineers to create healthy and well-executing teams
• Recruit great engineering managers and engineers in collaboration with Stripe’s recruiting team

Minimum Requirements

• Effectively recruited, mentored, and retained great people

• Successfully built a team, defined its mission, and executed on its goals
• The ability to thrive with a high level of autonomy and responsibility
• Experience in driving business and product success in a highly cross-functional organization
• 3+ years of experience being a manager of managers, of a team of at least 20+ people
• Experience working closely with Producers and Designers
