Job Description
AGS Automotive Systems is a full-service automotive supplier specializing in the manufacture and supply of complex high value-add automotive metal components, including in particular front and rear impact assemblies, principally for pick-ups and the heavy truck market. Basic Function


Reporting to the Operations Manager, the E-Coat Manager is responsible for, but not limited to, the supervision of all chemical related processes. The E-Coat Manager will ensure that all chemical processes are operating within established parameters, ensuring that accurate and timely reports and documentation are maintained. Further, to lead the Solutions Maintenance Supervisor, Waste Treat operators, and Solutions Maintenance Technicians to achieve and maintain high standards in safety, environmental, quality, production, customer service and housekeeping. The E-Coat Manager will also contribute to new launches working closely with production and quality on all PPAP, APQP and testing requirements.


Principal Responsibilities And Duties


  • Create an effective preventative maintenance plan and schedule, maintain, and work towards a "predictive maintenance plan" for both the ecoat system and the waste water treatment system
  • Monitors and reviews departmental results, costs, and product quality.
  • Ensure that direct reports comply with all Employment and Health & Safety Legislation, the Collective Agreement and Company policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing processes. Responsible for coaching and motivating employees, challenges the status quo, implements creative and innovative solutions to daily concerns of teams within the facility. Delivers on commitments made, treat people at all levels fairly and with respect. Provides direction to supervision in facility relating to chemical safety, housekeeping, first aid etc. Reviews completed work for conformance to standards, costs and quality.
  • Create skill assessments, and plan and implement development and training of employees to allow them to excel in their assignments. Provides clear and specific performance feedback and appraises the effectiveness of performance on their annual developmental review.
  • Performs workplace inspections. Layered audits, Reviews reports maintained for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provides or arranges coverage for Solutions Maintenance Technicians and Waste Water Technicians during "off hours"..
  • Maintains chemical and supplies inventories, ordering replacement material with sufficient lead-time to prevent any interruptions in the processes resulting from lack of material, tools or equipment.
  • Schedules maintenance resources required to ensure an uninterrupted performance of Waste Water Treatment and E-coat processes as well as all other production as required.
  • Responsible for leading and managing activities of all coatings personnel.
  • Performing employee safety observations and commending employee health and safety performance.
  • Responsible for creation, implementation, maintenance, communication and training of the chemical and environmental policies and procedures within e2z Coatings and Services.
  • Responsible for maintaining safe working conditions and practices to ensure the safety of all employees. Ensure supervision and their employees know how to perform work assignments in an efficient manner and that they are fully aware of the correct and safe way to operate the equipment and handle the chemicals safely.
  • Ensure the standards of Section 27 and 28 of the OHSA are met.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Attend meetings with Plant Management to discuss environmental compliance issues, customer concerns, production requirements, Health & Safety, new launches and maintenance.
  • Coordinates system maintenance scheduling with Production and Materials personnel to meet customer, health & safety and environmental requirements.
  • Conducting information sessions (safety talks, staff meetings) incident investigations, employee training.
  • Provide input to quoting activities including providing documented quotes in the absence of the Operations Manager.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of all e-coat tooling.
  • Develops plans with production superintendents / supervisors for efficient use of materials, equipment and employees.
  • Setting key performance indicators and targets for the coatings department.
  • Correcting substandard acts or conditions.


Qualifications


  • Proficiency with Microsoft and other manufacturing related software.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and experience in administering collective agreements would be an asset.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience. Ideally have 5 or more years of progressive management skills in a manufacturing related environment with a comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing, maintenance operations and related processes such as production equipment, paint and plating shop operations, etc. Working knowledge of customer shipping requirements, inventory controls, production scheduling, engineering systems / procedures and plant raw materials.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. Strong project management skills to manage and co-ordinate internal and external project resources.
