Job Description
Take your next career step at ABB with a global team that is energizing the transformation of society and industry to achieve a more productive, sustainable future.
At ABB, we have the clear goal of driving diversity and inclusion across all dimensions: gender, LGBTQ+, abilities, ethnicity and generations. Together, we are embarking on a journey where each and every one of us, individually and collectively, welcomes and celebrates individual differences.
ABB Installation Products Division (formerly Thomas&Betts),is the number one manufacturer of electrification products in North America with a 125-year history of providing innovation and customer- focused solutions for connecting and protecting electrical systems, as well as a unique differentiated medium voltage offering. Our products are used all around you, every day – orbiting the earth, working on Mars, on the fastest trains we ride, in the fastest cars of the world, crossing oceans, in factories producing your food, in the tallest buildings of the world, in the most modern hotels and in the walls of your home. With a portfolio of more than 200,000 products marketed under more than 38 premium brand names, our Division offerings are found wherever electricity is used.
Reporting to the director of Regional Operations, you will participate in the devel-opment of the global manufacturing process automation strategies for the various Canadian sites of the ELIP division. Through your ability to establish partnerships with the management teams of each location, you will be responsible for guiding the implementation of automation solutions to ensure the competitiveness of manufacturing operations enabling the achievement of the business objectives.
Your responsibilities
  • Measure the deployment of the technical solutions and their impact on overall business results for all locations in Canada by establishing key performance indicators.
  • As a technical expert, you will have to support the members of the various management committees to establish an overall assessment of the manufac-turing processes leading to the creation of a map of the manufacturing processes. The mapping should make it possible to identify and prioritize potential solutions.
  • Support the teams in assessing the feasibility of projects, taking into account the maturity and industrial robustness of the available solutions. In addition, guide them in the selection of solutions by providing technical advice and guid-ing them in all stages of projects.
  • You will have to create an automation project management process including a tool for weighting the potential gains and rigorous implementation processes.
  • Select various external partners including suppliers and integrators by application axes, establish robust business relationships with them, and continuously evaluate their competence to ensure the optimal integration of their services with the manufacturing operations.
  • While keeping abreast of emerging technologies, you will act as an expert to ensure the development of the technical skills of the local teams.
  • Given the production objectives set, you will have to guide the sites in the creation of their annual plan as well as on the potential gains of the different solutions aimed at the effective use of new technologies and automated solutions.
Your background
  • University degree in engineering (automated, industrial, mechanical, or electrical production) and member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (any other combination of education and experience that may be taken into considera-tion).
  • Experience in manufacturing process analysis and mapping.
  • Open to new challenges and passion for acquiring new skills.
  • Significant experience in the manufacturing industry with at least 10 years of experience specialized in technologies in manufacturing process automation.
  • Bilingual, French and English.
Benefits
  • Accident insurance
  • Wellbeing program
  • Retirement plan
  • Healthcare plan
