Job Description

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for aDirector of Financeto join our growing team in Vaughan.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, monitor and maintain appropriate internal controls.
  • Lead the accounting team in the monthly close process, with a focus on achieving a timely monthly reporting.
  • Develop a reporting and meeting cadence with the management team to drive understanding of financial performance, KPI results, and other metrics that will aid in making sound business decisions.
  • Maintain a keen focus on strong control of Journal Entry and Account Reconciliation preparation and review.
  • Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, including filing HST returns.
  • Oversee the accounting staff, ensuring proper segregation of duties and involving the entire team in the process.
  • Evaluate financial reporting systems and accounting procedures and make recommendations for changes to procedures, operating systems, budgets and other financial control functions to senior management.
  • Manage external audit process and requests.
  • Participate in preparing and ensuring quality of financial deliverables ranging from financial projections, budgets, work in process and job profitability reports.
  • Support the Controller and provide assistance with collections, cash management, invoicing, compensation calculations and oversee the accounting staff.


Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of financial management or Controllership experience.
  • Ability and willingness to lead people – people leadership and management experience will be a definite asset
  • Desire to continuously improve systems/processes with an open mind towards change
  • Ability to meet deadlines with a high level of accuracy
  • Team player with strong communication skills
  • Resourceful, energetic, and strong work ethic
  • Experience in the construction industry and using QuickBooks Online are definite assets.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and develop professionally and personally
  • Professional accounting designation required (CPA). An alternative combination of education and experience may be considered for the right candidate.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
