The Position

As Director of Finance, you will have overall responsibility for the financial operations of one of our businesses, including finance & accounting, compliance with statutory requirements, corporate governance and performing risk management by analyzing the organization's liabilities and investments. This position is right for you, if you are results-oriented, have a high level of energy, have high attention to detail, and can communicate concisely.


Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this role will be performed on a work from home basis.

:

Finance & Reporting


  • Manage quarterly forecasting process, including collaborating with various stakeholders on inputs such as sales pipeline, staffing costs, capital expenditures, etc. to prepare a robust forecast
  • Monitor and enforce Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly consolidated financial reporting package to ensure compliance of internal and external reporting requirements in accordance with IFRS, while adhering to tight timelines
  • Coordinate payroll processing and accounting with Volaris Finance (for USA employees)
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to ensure finance function operates effectively and efficiently
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivables processes and manage working capital
  • Ensure execution of action items and improvements plans from the quarterly forecast review process
  • Work closely with Volaris Finance and manage ad hoc requests in a timely manner


Management


  • Recommend and lead efforts to improve ROIC (return on invested capital) and/or growth performance
  • Present financial results and KPIs to Volaris Finance, including presentation of quarterly forecasts and explanation of variances between forecasts and actual results
  • Provide strategic financial leadership on issues affecting the business
  • Act as a business partner to the CEO and senior leadership team in supporting their reporting needs and identifying potential areas for improvement


Legal


  • Coordinate all legal activities with VP Group Finance
  • Work closely with senior leadership team to ensure projects bids and contract terms, financial and otherwise, adhere to Volaris Legal parameters, including identifying potential business risks and mitigation strategies


Skills & Competencies:

  • Proven track record of progressive financial experience in a leadership role and people management
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and presentation) with internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels
  • Software industry experience preferable
  • Team player and outstanding ability to work with and through others
  • Works collaboratively by consulting with employees, colleagues, partners, clients, users, and stakeholders
  • Ability to travel internationally post COVID-19 (up to 25%)
  • Professional Accounting Designation is required (CPA or equivalent)
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices and applications under IFRS
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills
  • Humility, curiosity, and ability to investigate and learn new domains and technologies
  • Proven experience as DIRECTOR OF FINANCE or similar role
  • Ability to handle a demanding work schedule and manage time effectively to meet deadlines
  • Experience in an international/global business, handling multiple stakeholders and currencies an asset
  • Strong analytical skills in combination with strategic, action-oriented mindset
  • Hand-on contributor in all aspects of the finance function
