The Oshawa office is looking for a hardworking, experienced, results-oriented and professional Director of Construction, Nuclear to join our team.

Summary Of The Role


The Director of Construction, Nuclear will be responsible for all field construction and fabrication projects assigned to the designated areas of Darlington, Pickering, Oshawa, and Tiverton, ON.


Key Responsibilities


  • Ensures that all projects are phased and scheduled using the established Company phasing and scheduling systems
  • Ensures Director and Deputy Director are informed of all site safety issues, quality issues, and union issues or grievances that require Company in-house legal involvement
  • Promotes and represents the Company in a positive fashion continuously working to maximize Company image
  • Ensures Job Status Reports are provided on a monthly basis for all projects
  • Ensures staff work closely with the Central Tool Crib providing lead-time, official tool and equipment requisitions, and coordination with respect to the requisitioning and return of tools and equipment
  • Monitors and oversees all labour, material and equipment expenditures on assigned projects
  • Supports Site Manager by attending any site meetings as requested
  • Responsible for allocation of construction resources for all sites (Darlington, Pickering, NSSW) and collaboration with Bruce Power for any associated OPG work
  • Ensures that Construction Managers, Superintendents, Construction Coordinators and General Foreman understand and utilize site scheduling, safety and work authorization procedures
  • Ensures staff work closely with the Purchasing Department providing input, lead-time, coordination and information in consultation with the Manager of Purchasing in accordance with the Company's established purchasing procedures
  • Ensures that all Construction Managers, Superintendents, Construction Coordinators, General Foremen, Foreman understand and utilize the Company business systems
  • Ensures that environmental aspects within their sphere of responsibility are adhered to pursuant to ISO 14001 requirements
  • Provide oversight and direction to our jurisdictions and disciplinary actions for all construction employees
  • Ensures responsibilities and accountabilities are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with E.S. Fox Limited safety policy/procedures, ISO 18001 standards and OHSA requirements
  • Reviews all site mark-ups before submission to EPSCA and attends mark-up meetings as required
  • SPOC for Labour Relations, Jurisdiction and Grievances/Disputes
  • Oversees 'Plan of the Day' meetings to ensure Project Management group and construction are aligned on execution and project deliverables
  • Provides Senior Management leadership to assigned projects in accordance with established Company policy and procedures
  • Monitors projects using all available reporting systems and stays fully informed as to projects status
  • Uses effective communication to ensure the Director and Deputy Director stay fully aware of project matters. Maintains full and complete communication to ensure that information is freely communicated on all matters
  • Responsible for overseeing all field construction on the assigned projects undertaken by the area


Knowledge And Education Requirements


  • 15+ years of progressive experience in construction with 2+ years' experience as a Director of Construction
  • In-depth knowledge of the laws, regulations, and procedures applicable to the construction industry in Ontario
  • Bachelor of Engineering, Construction Management Degree, or equivalent education in the construction field
  • 5+ years of nuclear plant construction or operation experience
