SUMMARY OF POSITION:


Director of Care is accountable to a designated community, for directing and mentoring care staff to ensure resident-focused care is achieved, maintaining accountability of the nursing staff to ensure that individualized resident care is appropriate and in place, and promoting departmental activities to maintain high quality resident care. Primary responsibilities include mentoring the staff to ensure the assessment of resident needs, planning and implementation of nursing programs to meet resident needs, and coordination of ongoing education for nursing staff at the facility. An ability to communicate effectively with residents and their families, staff, and others in the community is essential.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Must have 3 to 5years working in management position with seniors and disabled persons. Experience in a long-term care setting preferred.
  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and current BCCNM registration in the province of British Columbia


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Sound financial management skills and understanding of funding in a residential care setting
  • Must be available to travel (80%) and spend extended periods in various communities
  • Demonstrates empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors and disabled persons
  • Extensive knowledge of the Community Care and Assisted Living Act; Residential Care Regulations; Service Provider Manual, including criteria for complex care
  • Ability to plan, direct and control the delivery of multi-faceted care services
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal and team relationships

Point Grey, significantly expanded and improved in 2020, offers 153 licensed residential care beds consisting of primarily single occupancy rooms.


Point Grey boasts views of the mountains and ocean as well as large windows and homelike furnishings. This home has four stories with a dining area, recreation areas and a large outdoor patio on each floor. The desirable location and freshly decorated interior provides our clients with a comfortable and homelike environment.


Point Grey Private Hospital works in collaboration with the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority to offer funded beds but also has five private pay rooms available.
