About The Position


Reporting to the Senior Vice-President of Development, your primary responsibility will be to lead and coach a team professional managers that are responsible for the regulatory and environmental processes of renewable energy projects across North America.


As the Director of Environment and Community Relations – North America, you will:


  • Support the acquisition team in reviewing projects and portfolios.
  • Meet with regulatory authorities and stakeholders to help address project issues when necessary.
  • Coach and mentor team leads across all jurisdictions in the development group.
  • Support the development team in responding to Request for Proposals.
  • Work closely with each jurisdictional Director, development managers and team leads to help forecast timelines, budgets and resourcing needs.
  • Responsible to ensure that our project development pipeline is line with our Environment Mission statement and our Code of Ethics.
  • Be responsible to lead the North American E&C team and obtain all Authorizations and Permits to build our projects.
  • Remain abreast of regulatory and policy changes across each jurisdiction we’re developing in.
  • Work closely with Government Relations and Communication on development needs.


Your Skills


  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and similar programs;
  • Leadership, strong communication, negotiation and teamwork skills;
  • Autonomy, initiative and organizational skills;
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, environmental studies or other relevant fields;
  • Knowledge of French, an asset.
  • Knowledge of provincial, state and federal authorization processes;
  • 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in a leadership position and in the environmental field;
