Community Relations and Logistical/Operational Support

On behalf of our clientThe Arctic Research Foundation (ARF)we are seeking to fill the role ofCommunity Relations and Logistical/Operational Support.

The Arctic Research Foundation (ARF) is a non-profit organization that is spearheading the development of innovative scientific infrastructure in the Canadian Arctic. Our state-of-the-art research vessels and self-powered mobile laboratories are enabling efficient and cutting-edge research in the region.

At ARF, we facilitate and drive scientific, cultural, and economic research in the Arctic. We collaborate with governments, universities, and other research institutions that require access to advanced infrastructure for their program initiatives. Furthermore, we work closely with Arctic Indigenous peoples to ensure that our projects are informed by and respectful of the diverse cultures and perspectives in the North.

Reporting to the Research Coordinator and Logistics Manager, this role is responsible for:

•Support organizing and facilitating consultations with communities, with continued ongoing communication and relationship building

•Engage in ongoing, project-based dialogue with community members (alongside the Research Coordinator and Logistics Manager, and co-CEO’s)

•Support the Research and Logistics Manager in the management of Naurvik

•Support on maintaining and developing relationships with community organizations and officials

•Support project management of youth-elder camps, youth programming on vessels, and all other community engagement initiatives

•Support on creation of new community programming stemming from interest after community consultation

•Help identify and pursue new opportunities for partnerships and funding

•Support as needed for the Fleet Manager and Research and Logistics Manager on foundation operations and logistics

•Additional duties as required

This position will have a large component of logistics and operational support, and will work closely with the Fleet Manager and Research and Logistics Manager when not in the field supporting community projects. This role will offer administrative, logistical and operational support to all community projects and research projects in the organization.
