Job Description
TealBook is seeking a talented and experienced DevOps Manager to join our engineering team and make an immediate impact. In this role, you will be responsible for the DevOps practices implemented across the organization, ensuring that our software is running smoothly, and our engineering solutions can scale up quickly and efficiently.

With a mandate of driving forward our data vision and platform, you will have the opportunity to drive exciting technical challenges by analyzing, troubleshooting, and designing vital services, platforms, and infrastructure while always thinking about reliability, scalability, resilience, security, and performance.

The Impact You Will Have

  • You will monitor application performance and take steps to improve overall application performance and stability both directly and through supporting the Engineering team's efforts. Additionally, you will conduct system analysis, configuration management, and develop improvements for system software performance, availability, and reliability
  • You will facilitate best CI/CD practices across the organization and act as an advocate for current standards and best practices
  • You will share your best practices, approaches, documentation, and code with other engineering teams to build a Site Reliability Engineering culture across the organization. You will also apply automation and software to any tasks or parts of the system that would benefit from it or are performed manually
  • You will be a master of data management concepts and will productionize data pipelines using GCP services while implementing the required data governance controls to ensure data quality, reliability, and integrity
  • You will work closely with the Engineering teams to ensure that the infrastructure supports multiple data pipelines for development and production systems
  • Your troubleshooting skills will be put to the test as you troubleshoot complicated, cross-platform issues including OS, Networking, and Database in a Google Cloud Platform SaaS environment, handle live production incidents, debug and troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues, and follow and implement SRE best practices
  • Keep up-to-date with security and proactively identify, diagnose, and solve complex security issues
  • Provide key input to the overall data architecture and database design and play a key role in implementing that design across the organization
What Are We Looking For?

  • Experience in monitoring and analyzing infrastructure performance, establishing and tracking metrics, and implementing alerting
  • You have experience with, or a passion for, ML/AI
  • You are customer obsessed, very collaborative, and skilled at communicating complex technical concepts to those with different skill sets and backgrounds
  • You have a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a tech-related field from an accredited university
  • Experience with Agile methodologies
  • Experience in containerization (Docker, etc.) and orchestration (Kubernetes, preferred), CI/CD tools, and Infrastructure As Code (Terraform)
  • You have a firm understanding of data governance principles and how to implement automated data quality and monitoring controls
  • Demonstrated understanding of ITIL methodologies, ITIL v3 or v4 certification
  • You are an experienced DevOps Engineer with 5+ years of experience, preferably in a data-focused / product-focused organization
Your Work Environment

  • We have an incredible office in Toronto (located at Spadina and Richmond, conveniently close to all the delicious eats) that is available to employees if they do want to come in
  • The health and safety of our employees will always be a priority at TealBook. As such, for the foreseeable future, TealBook is a remote-first workplace. You are encouraged to find a space that empowers you and that has your support group around you
