Data Engineer

Avanti is looking for an Intermediate Data Engineer who can help manage our data solutions at the same time as build out our data platform of the future. Data drives our business, and as such, the impact of this role is key component of our products/services and a significant enabler of insight and decision making within the business. In this hands-on role, you will work with our existing Data Engineering team and alongside our SaaS Operations, Development, Marketing, and Product teams to implement the key data architectural components of the next generation of Avanti services/products.

What you’ll do:

• Administer our production Cloud SQL environment
• Provide recommendations and implement improvements to our data ecosystem
• Develop new data pipelines in Data Bricks
• Build, improve, and teach teams to consume new data visualization tools
• Experiment with new technologies to determine if they can help improve the way Avanti uses, manages, or consumes data

We're looking for someone who has experience with:

• Personal drive and creativity
• T-SQL
• Public cloud exposure (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience building data pipelines (ETL)
• Data Visualization (Power BI, Grafana, Tableau)
• Ability to teach technical concepts to non-technical people
• SQL server administration

Things that would be helpful:

• Experience with implementation of cloud data warehouses
• Strong background in Tabular modelling (OLAP)
• Azure Certifications
• Database performance analysis and tuning
• Experience with MS Power Platform
• Experience building software - a basic programming background – any modern language (Python would be extra nice here, but C#, Java, Go…you name it, we find it valuable).
• Experience with DevOps – particularly around Data Ops processes and automation
• Spark (Databricks, Synapse)
