The Data Engineer – Digital Health co-op student will build data pipelines, create custom reports and support various database systems. The ideal candidate should be a good programmer with sound database knowledge, curious to understand hospital processes, enjoys building things, and prepared to learn along the way in order to finish her/his tasks.
Our Digital Health team at Joseph Brant Hospital will endeavour to provide the co-op student with a positive learning opportunity that will enhance their knowledge of clinical applications, databases, and process automation.
The ideal candidate should be able to write SQL statements, understand and explore clinical data, and ability to execute steps to manage/troubleshoot other third-party components. A quick learning and can-do attitude will be the key criteria for this role.
Qualifications/Expectations:
- Strong knowledge of database principles and familiarity with Relational Database Management Systems
- Ability to write SQL statements
- Knowledge of Python, C#, and Source Control Systems e.g. Git or Azure DevOps are a plus
- Basic understanding of Query Language, Data Manipulation, Data Definition, and Access Control
- Proper understanding of database normalization, transactions, and architecture
- Current enrolment in Computer Science or Engineering, or a related discipline
- Conceptual knowledge of any programming language
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to function within a complex interdisciplinary environment
