Role description:
The Data Engineer is responsible for build and maintenance of data systems. They are responsible for the delivery of the technical leadership in data integration and data migration. They will support data migration strategies, tools, design and build. You will create various methods to transform raw data into useful data systems. For example, you’ll create algorithms and conduct data analysis.
This role includes provisioning of data ETL and modelling pipelines, hosting environments, automated testing and deployment, information storage and retrieval and support enabling infrastructure across multiple client projects. The data engineer will provide expertise in the development of data migration solutions for our customers.
The Data Engineer will manage projects and may be a coach to other Junior Data Engineers within the Service Engineering group. They will work together with Data architecture, Data Consultants and QA to enable technical solutions throughout the project lifecycle, including demonstrations, requirements gathering, results presentations and training.
Role accountabilities:
  • Identifying opportunities to generate additional revenue and develop new revenue streams.
  • Develops and constructs data products and services and integrate them into systems and business processes.
  • Ensure the services and software delivered fully meets client expectations and delivers value in terms of realisation of business benefits.
  • Manage the delivery of data engineering stream for multiple projects are delivered on time, within budget, to high quality and in accordance with project scope.
  • Analyse and organize raw data; build data systems and pipelines .
  • Driving quality and innovation within Solution Engineer Group delivered by Gen, identifying and disseminating best practice in terms of approaches and tooling.
  • Ensure the services and software delivered fully meets client expectations and delivers value in terms of realisation of business benefits.
  • Provide support for business development including:
  • Technical leadership in develop data engineering solution and contribute to capability growth
  • Writing proposals for client projects & scope changes and convert them to sales.
  • Manage outputs and quality throughout delivery of a project ensuring all work packages align to the project scope.
  • Technical sales support including software demonstrations.
  • Ensure that the design fully meets the client’s needs and wherever possible has the potential to be offered to other clients with minimal re-work to maximise future revenue.
Qualifications & Experience:
The ideal candidate will have a background in computer science and/or data engineering, ideally within a data consultancy or physical asset owning company context. They will have a strong understanding of how to deploy and scale machine learning and advance analytics techniques in a modern cloud environment. A keen interest in the latest technologies is important, to help ensure that the product (as well as Gen in general) stays on the cutting edge.
More importantly than these technical skills, however, we are looking for someone to be a data solution leader, pushing forward the boundaries of what we do, and the standards expected of the wider Gen data architecture.
Must haves:
  • You have experience coaching other technology professionals at various levels.
  • Predictive and / or prescriptive analytics and machine learning would be advantageous.
  • Implement data flows to connect operational systems, data for analytics, BI and EAM Systems
  • You have experience working with professional coding technologies such as Git, Docker, and Kubernetes
  • Mathematical and statistical analysis and modelling skills would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Java and Python)
  • Experience in Analysing and organising raw data.
  • Experience of delivery of client facing projects, ideally in a consultancy environment
  • Proven ability in presenting methodologies and results to all levels in a business environment.
  • Demonstrable skills in database management
  • You have demonstrable experience of modern cloud technologies such as Azure,
  • Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques
  • You have experience in the use of automated testing, CI/CD, the use, and creation of APIs and of virtual package environments to ensure repeatability of code.
