The TELUS Data & Trust Office provides world-class, innovative data solutions to TELUS. As the Data Analytics & AI Senior Manager, supported by the Director of Privacy & Innovation, you will materially influence data analytics and AI innovation that supports the growth of the business. You will also provide your considerable expertise in this space to support the development, deployment and use of new digital technologies.


You will collaborate with, advise and guide the business to embed privacy by design principles from the first stages of development to ensure initiatives and technology builds meet our rigorous privacy, security and ethical standards.


You will be a champion for Responsible AI, Data & Innovation and you will advocate for TELUS’ Trust Model as the fundamental driver for all of our decisions around data, recognizing how critical customer and team member trust is to TELUS’ mission.


You will be an integral part of our team and will bridge your creative ideas with business objectives to enhance and sustain our first-class data program. In doing so, you will be instrumental in advancing our reputation for being trustworthy, using a responsible human-centric approach to ensure that we use data to deliver remarkable business and social outcomes, always in a manner that demonstrates TELUS’ commitment to putting our customers and communities first.


What you’ll do


  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure adherence to the TELUS’ Trust Model
  • Provide expert advice and counsel to the business to execute on TELUS’ data handling frameworks by educating the business on new data, privacy, and ethical uses, and provide innovative and creative strategies to address privacy and data governance considerations
  • Agility to meet the changing needs of the organization and a fast-paced, ambitious team where priorities shift but the focus on the mission is steadfast
  • Educate and advise the business team on new data, privacy, and ethical uses, and provide strategies to address privacy and data governance considerations
  • Ensure that our enablement and use of AI adheres to our high standards of algorithmic fairness and explainability, data quality, and data validation and testing strategies
  • Guide our data analytics teams to deploy or leverage technology responsibly and ethically in a manner that meets or exceeds the expectations of our regulators and customers while simultaneously ensuring TELUS’ ability to respectfully leverage data to deliver value


Qualifications


What you bring


  • Noted for the ability to take initiative and be proactive in identifying opportunities to support and enhance respect for our program
  • Post-secondary education
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in applying privacy law and principles
  • Support the development of a data program that meets or exceeds the expectations of our regulators and customers while simultaneously ensuring TELUS’ ability to respectfully leverage data to deliver value to our stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of data analytics, data management principles, and responsible AI, and familiar with implementing new emerging technologies in a responsible fashion
  • Recognized for your excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, and your ability to distill complex and/or ambiguous problems into clear, actionable requirements and to build and foster relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Sought after for your ability to develop creative solutions where challenges are presented and to add value and support to business units to deploy or leverage technology ethically by providing expert advice and counsel to execute on TELUS’ data handling frameworks
  • Highly adaptable, and comfortable working in a demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Trusted as a collaborative partner who will act with integrity to fulfill TELUS’ commitments to its customers and team members and known for your ability to influence and negotiate effectively and to be a persuasive advocate
  • Demonstrated track record of defining and delivering measurable outcomes for customers and the business in a highly complex stakeholder environment
  • Effective in communicating data risks in written form and verbally communicating progress on initiatives in leadership forums
  • Ability to protect the TELUS brand and act with a sense of urgency to efficiently assess material impacts and effectively mitigate risk
  • International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) certification or willingness and ability to become certified within 6 months
