Position Description Summary


Responsible for the detailed management of both customer and carrier ensuring the efficient and effective coordination of the arrival, off-loading and delivery of freight on a time sensitive basis to meet customer commitments and specifications. Additionally, the Customer Service Representative, Ground must also be committed to exceeding client expectations while respecting company policies.


Principal Accountabilities


  • Complex billing of accounts
  • Arrange pick up and delivery of orders with shipper, consignees and carriers
  • Trailer pool management
  • Negotiate rates with carriers
  • Audit carrier invoices
  • Call customers, when necessary, to advise shipment status and/or obtain information necessary to process shipments
  • Build cost effective loads
  • Other duties, as assigned to meet business needs
  • Coordinate with Customs Department if required
  • Track shipments
  • Provide professional customer service
  • Maintain tracking reports for internal and external customers


Knowledge And Skills


  • Strong Computer skills - Ms Office, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years handling customer accounts in a freight forwarding environment
  • Require strong attention to detail and follow up skills a must
  • Good planning and organizational skills; plans work and measures performance
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years previous experience in a similar role with a solid understanding and knowledge of Ground Freight
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Experience in freight forwarding and transportation; CIFFA course completion
  • Ability and willingness to work in a team environment as well as independently
