Manager, Corporate Services
Vancouver, BC
UBC Investment Management is a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of British Columbia, providing professional investment management for the UBC Endowment Fund, Staff Pension Plan and other UBC-related funds. The funds are invested globally across all major public and private asset classes and in aggregate value exceed $5.5 billion.
UBC Investment Management is a close-knit team of professionals focused on providing investment and service excellence to each of the funds we manage. We are seeking a new team member that shares our passion for delivering excellence and reflects our values of Trust, Respect, and a one-team mentality to lead our Corporate Services function. Our Corporate Services function is an essential part of our business, with responsibilities that include management of our external vendors, coordination of our reporting to various Boards and overseeing management of our office.
This role will provide support to multiple areas in the company including the President and CEO and other team members. This role will report to the President and CEO.
The Manager of Corporate Services, can expect to focus their work in the following areas:
Corporate Vendor Management
• Establish the process to collect, consolidate, and communicate vendor agreements and performance within the organization.
• Evaluate vendors and professional service providers, assess their quality of work, and evaluate vendor performance against organizational standards.
• Develop long-term alliances and strengthen partnerships through relationship management.
• Collaborate with vendors and our professional service providers on planning for new contracts and upcoming renewals. Stay ahead of vendor/contract life cycle events to maximize value of contracts.
• Work in partnership with vendors and our professional service providers on driving continuous improvement and value-creating approaches to service delivery, technology utilization and cost optimization.
• Establish and execute the process to collect, consolidate, and analyze vendor and professional service provider contracts and annual spend.
Administration and Reporting
• Coordinate reporting and communications for the UBC Investment Management Board and University stakeholders, including preparing agendas, managing meeting logistics and liaising with appropriate staff of university stakeholders.
• Manage upcoming reporting deliverables and timelines to our clients and the UBC Investment Management Board by liaising with UBC Investment Management team members.
• Communicate/liaise with key UBC departments and personnel.
• Assist with annual audits and the development of annual reports, as required.
Office Management and Culture
• Maintain overall accountability of general office management and executive support by supervising the role of Office Coordinator.
• Manage the payment process for external vendors and internal expenses and monitor corporate costs against approved budgets.
• Develop and maintain corporate policies and procedures relating to various corporate services.
• Lead the ongoing development of a positive and engaging office environment and team culture through coordination of team activities.
Qualified candidates should possess the following qualifications and experience:
• Undergraduate degree
• Ten years’ work experience in a professional office environment, including experience contributing to executive or Board-level reporting, managing vendor relationships and budgets, or contract management.
• Solid grasp of financial concepts and budget planning and management
• Understanding of the vendor life cycle (sourcing, procurement, vendor management)
• Strong proficiency in working Microsoft Teams and Office applications
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with internal team
• Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
• Self-motivated, flexible and adaptable in a high-performance environment with ability to meet internal and external deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Not required but nice to have:
• Experience in managing small teams
• Experience in managing or leading projects independently

Title and compensation will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications. UBC Investment Management is seeking a successful candidate that will reside in the Greater Vancouver area.
