Job Description

Position: Corporate Project Director
Primary Location: Home Based across the US or Canada with 50% travel required
Reports To: Sr. Director, Engineering & Business and Operational Excellence
Compensation: $170,000 - $200,000 USD + bonus + benefits
Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. About This Role And About You
The Director, Project Engineering is responsible for leading the Capital Projects Team in the execution of capital projects. They manage the overall capital budget for the organization which includes both maintenance capital and organic growth capital, while collaborating with manufacturing on priorities. They drive project management processes to ensure effective definition, prioritization and execution of projects, including the use of standard project management processes across projects run by the the Capital Projects Team or Site resources. They participate in project scope and design efforts to support Corporate objectives, Responsible Care principles, Process Safety Management, and Mechanical / Electrical Reliability requirements. They will have an Operational Excellence mindset to own, drive, audit, and continuously improve the CPMP Process, Capital Project Spending accountability, Capital Forecasting, and short and long range capital planning processes.
Qualifications
  • Effective Change Agent
  • Travel Required: Up to 50%
  • Operational Excellence and use of Lean Six Sigma tools experience preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Capital project management and project controls
  • ASTM and ASME standards
  • Manufacturing plant support and construction
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with project manager, procurement, vendors/contractors, and leadership.
  • Material handling equipment
  • Responsible Care 14001
  • Demonstrated skill/knowledge in the following areas:
  • Experience in refinery or chemical manufacturing is preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of Capital Project Management experience, including at least 5 years of leadership experience
  • Proficiency utilizing computer programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, SAP, Microsoft Teams, Power BI
  • Demonstrated success in building and leading teams, as well as driving accountability
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
Responsibilities
Capital Project Processes
  • Collaborate with VPs, Directors, Regional Managers, Plant Managers, etc. to determine priorities of project, staffing and support
  • Own, drive, audit, and improve CPMP process and the Stage Gate Process
  • Facilitate the management of the Capital Budget in conjunction with the Manufacturing & Commercial leaders for both Sustenance and Organic Growth
  • Lead and drive short and long range capital planning efforts
  • In collaboration with the Capital Project Controls team, drive and improve Capital Project Controls
  • Lead monthly capital forecasting
Capital Project Execution
  • Ensure effective project design and execution and collaborate with EHS, Manufacturing, Corporate Reliability, Business Leads, etc. to ensure consistency and adherence to Chemtrade Standards and practices
  • Drive accountability to spend and schedule for all projects
  • Lead the project team to define, scope, plan, and execute capital projects with focus on safety, operational reliability, and sustainability
Member of the Engineering and Business & Operational Excellence Leadership Team
  • Provide leadership and coaching as well as drive accountability for project team members
  • Lead and drive direct reports to meet department goals
  • Collaborate with other leadership members across the businesses to drive the reliability mindset and drive improvements
  • Be a change leader for the entire Engineering and BOE team
