Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Coordinator, Jays Care Programs


Coordinators on the Jays Care Programs team are tasked with supporting a wide range of projects that are all designed to help level the playing field. Our work enables us to work with and support communities facing a wide range of barriers including, but not limited to poverty, food insecurity, inaccessibility, ableism, racism, sexism, and homophobia. Every project we devote time, funding and energy to has been well-researched, informed by our wide range of advisors, and is designed specifically to break down barriers and fortify strengths for children and youth.

Reporting to Manager, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning


Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Responsibilities


  • Support data quality efforts by performing high-quality data entry and data management, e.g. supporting data management of large national programs such as Affiliate School Program, Community Partner Programs.
  • Maintain awareness of best practices pertaining to program development and community-based research and evaluation.
  • Data Collection, Monitoring & Analysis
  • Travel & Additional Opportunities
  • Support the creation of monitoring and evaluation tools, including program assessments, surveys, interview guides and other data gathering methods.
  • Research & Learning
  • Conduct on-going research on key areas, tools, and methods for evaluation related to areas of interest of the foundation.
  • Participate in data collection activities including administration of surveys, interviews, observations, focus groups and other methods.
  • Travel on as needed basis to support programming or perform program interviews & assessment.
  • Support in the communication and dissemination of monitoring and evaluation best practices, key findings and lessons learned across the Jays Care team.
  • Update research database on a as needs basis with new studies that supports and/or challenges the work of the programs team.
  • Aid in the interpretation of quantitative and qualitative results and in the presentation of results.
  • Regularly monitor data quality standards. This includes providing regular feedback and support on data verification, data entry and data quality issues to Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Manager.


In addition to the aforementioned training roles and responsibilities, Coordinators on the Jays Care team are expected to be highly driven, have a phenomenal work ethic and be excited to work both independently as well as in a team. In an average year, Coordinators tend to work on 3-5 major projects applying the following skills on a regular basis

USING BASEBALL FOR DEVELOPMENT

Desired Education/Experience
  • Good demonstration of problem-solving skills and ability to work in a group.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation or research methodologies.
  • Competency in Excel, PowerPoint, and different online communication platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent organizational, planning, coordination, and analytical skills.
  • Experience with data collection (e.g., survey creation and administration, key informant interviews, focus groups, etc.).
  • Willingness to work outside of regular 9-5 schedule.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with recent related experience in applied research and evaluation, preferably in an academic or Not-for-Profit environment. Preference will be given to candidates with experience conducting community-based research and evaluation projects. This includes experience with research project development, data collection, data analysis, and data interpretation. Candidates with strong skills in qualitative and quantitative methodologies are preferred.
  • Knowledge in community-based research and evaluation methods.
  • Knowledge of evaluation theory and practice.
  • Fluency in French is an asset.
  • Strong skills in qualitative data methodology and analysis.
