Coordinator, Bank Reconciliation


Corporate Services – Corporate Finance


Status: 1 Regular Full Time


Salary Range: $65,480 to $81,849 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits )

Location: 10 Peel Centre, Drive, Brampton


Hours of Work: 35 hours per week


Who We Are


Finance plays an integral role in delivering targeted strategies and outcomes aimed at advancing departmental business priorities and corporate vision and mission. Our mandate is enabling success through financial stewardship and business partnership.


What You Will Do In This Role


In this role, you will be reporting to the Supervisor, Corporate Reporting and Receivables. As the Bank Reconciliation Coordinator, you will be responsible for reconciling all of Peel Region and Peel Housing bank accounts. While also be responsible for the following:


  • Coding of Summary Receipts & Deposits
  • Preparing and entering journal entries
  • Ensuring all bank accounts are reconciled monthly on a timely basis and follow-up on any discrepancies
  • Maintaining petty cash records, ensuring all funds are supported with an up to date confirmation and reconciled to general ledger
  • Act as a liaison between the Region and the banks to resolve errors and retrieve the information required
  • Performing surprise Petty Cash audits and providing training for new Petty Cash Custodians
  • Monitoring electric funds transfer (EFT) advice mailbox, distributing EFT remittances and coding EFT payments
  • Download daily bank activity and cashed cheques
  • Reconciliation of other general ledger accounts
  • Place stop payments on cheques
  • Reconcile cashed cheques in ERP system


What The Role Requires


  • Minimum 3 years’ experience, particularly in finance
  • High school diploma plus at least 1 year post-secondary education in a finance or accounting field. A c ombination of education and experience may be considered


Skills/Abilities


  • Effective knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials is a definite asset
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
  • Effective analytical skills and attention to detail is required
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 10 Peel Centre, Drive, Bramptonworksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
