Job Description

  • Preparing budgets by projecting resource needs and determining funding priorities for a division
  • Determine budget requirements for mechanical systems and submit budgetary recommendations.

  • Prepare job status reports and other reports as required for reporting to senior management.
  • Analyzing the section budget for reasonability, needs, and justification.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of planning and scheduling tools such as CPM schedule computer software and Planning Aid reports. Maintain accurate and up-to-date project schedules through a good understanding of the project scope and building strategies. Apply a basic understanding of building sequencing in the creation and maintenance of the CPM schedule.
  • Review, evaluate, and improve engineering schematics and specifications prepared by consultants/clients.
  • Thorough understanding and proper interpretation of the full scope of the project work.
  • Analyze the preparation, tracking, control and distribution of all Contract documents and drawings.
  • Obtain field experience for career growth by assisting project management in the project field.
  • Provide feedback and advice regarding the technical and mechanical aspects of company projects to management and other project leaders; supervising the preparation and review of contract drawings and documents.
  • Evaluate various mechanical products under consideration for purchase to determine their efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Making technical reviews and providing recommendations regarding designs and reports prepared by consulting engineers.
  • Improve operations, reduce turnaround times, and optimize processes to provide seamless quality of engineering services.
  • Assist in the project close-out process including in-house detailed deficiency/incomplete work list and timely completion and sign-off of each item.
  • Act as project manager on mechanical engineering projects.
  • Oversee the planning, design, construction and estimation of cost for company projects.
  • Establishing design and construction schedules and monitoring the progress of various projects and their conformance to design and construction schedules.
  • Supervising the preparation of project contract documents.
  • Recommend improvements to the current design of products.
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.
  • Assist in preparing, distributing and communicating document requirements for equipment start-up, commissioning and equipment control logs (inc. green/red tagging).
Requirements
  • Works effectively in a team environment and under high pressure.
  • Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents.
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite.
  • Entry-level Engineering Experience (coop experience is also recognized). Mechanical/Process related engineering is an advantage.
  • Excellent time management and project management skills.
  • Highly motivated and self-directed capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Able to communicate ideas and recommendations to non-engineer team members in a clear manner.
  • Construction experience or an equivalent combination of technical training & experience.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principles.
  • Strong problem-identification and problem-resolution skills
