Otter Co-op is now hiring Temporary Part-Time Cooks at our Highwayman Pub located in Abbotsford, BC.

We operate three food and pharmacy stores (including one with a fashion and hardware department), twenty-nine Angry Otter liquor stores, two feed mills, two bulk petroleum facilities, the Angry Otter Tap & Forno and Brewery in North Vancouver, the Highwayman Pub in Abbotsford, the Sawbucks pub in South Surrey and twenty-five gas station/convenience stores. What you’ll do:


Reporting to the Kitchen Manager, responsibilities for this position include the following:


  • Prepare, season and cook meals in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Properly store food items at appropriate temperatures
  • Maintain accurate food inventories
  • Restock kitchen for subsequent shifts
  • Follow recipes and presentation specifications
  • Maintain a clean work environment and follow all sanitation procedures
  • Oversee kitchen operations
  • Maintain inventory and record of food, supplies and equipment
  • Prepare and cook meals according to dietary restrictions when requested
  • Contribute to the Team in living the Corporate Values of Integrity, Community and Excellence
  • Rotate stock items as per established procedures
  • Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes
  • Safely and efficiently operate kitchen equipment and appliances

Who you are:


You are looking for a career in the Food Service Industry as well as:


  • MUST have open availability including day and evening shifts
  • Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures
  • MUST be committed to a SAFE working environment
  • Must have a strong work ethic
  • FOODSAFE Level 1 required
  • This is a physical job requiring the ability to stand for long periods of time and lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs. on occasion
  • This position is based at the Highwayman Pub, though it may require on occasion to travel and work at other locations as business needs require
  • Team player with strong communication skills
  • Previous experience in a full service restaurant considered an asset
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
