Job Description

Perform accounting functions for our client in Toronto, CA.


This position will be critical in their new ERP Implementation of P21 and the qualified applicant must be able to perform the below functions.


a. Manage the day-to-day accounting operations of the Company

b. Comply with month-end closing activities

c. Maintain treasury relations and handle daily cash management including reconciliation of bank accounts

d. Responsible for managing operational data and ensuring data integrity and accuracy

e. Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with GAAP and established best practices

f. Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements

g. Manage journal entries, invoices etc. and reconcile accounts for the monthly or annual closing

h. Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts

i. Participate in the annual audit

j. Help in development of reports for management

k. Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalance

l. Utilize accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records


2. Inventory duties including but not limited to:

a. Monthly inventory rollforward by item (purchases, sales, adjustments to inventory)

b. Monthly review of landed costs (duties, tariffs, etc.)

c. Review obsolete inventory reserve and adjust quarterly

d. Analysis of inventory adjustments


3. Supervise Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff

a. Ensure invoices are entered correctly and paid timely

b. Monitor the account collections of the Company

c. Prepare monthly rollforwards of accounts receivable (sales, collections, credit/adjustment) and accounts payable (purchases, payments, adjustments)


4. Perform Human Resource duties

a. Responsible for exempt and non-exempt payroll duties

b. Oversee onboarding process for new employees

c. Benefits enrollment

d. Maintain HR compliance such as labor law posters, etc.

e. Direct employees to the appropriate HR resource when needed


5. Assist Director of Accounting and serve as a backup with general accounting duties as needed including but not limited to:

a. Review of all intercompany accounts

b. Maintain schedule of prepaid balances & monthly amortization

c. Calculation of accrued expenses: rebates, interest, bonuses, commissions, etc.

d. Month-end payroll analysis

e. Monthly account reconciliations

f. Maintain schedule of fixed assets and monthly depreciation and amortization for all companies

g. Annual review of goodwill for impairment


6. Assist with Analysis and Reporting responsibilities including but not limited to:

a. Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses, and capital expenditures

b. Ad-Hoc Reporting and Analysis

c. Quarterly and Monthly Financial reports

d. Work with a Business Intelligence Tool and Dashboard reports

e. Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes

f. Support Senior Management Team and Department heads with in-depth analysis


7. Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field · Master’s degree a plus


Required: · Five or more years of related experience · Inventory management experience desired · Expert knowledge of PC accounting, Business Intelligence, and MS Excel (pivot tables, arrays, data connections) · P21 experience strongly preferred


Skills/Abilities: · Knowledge of GAAP accounting procedures and practices · Skilled in data manipulation and report generation · Ability to understand complex information and break it down for others in simpler terms · Professional, well-developed interpersonal and communication skills · Strong organizational and prioritization skills. · Excellent time management kills · Financial aptitude a must · Well-developed critical thinking ability · Strong mathematical skills · Resourcefulness and detail oriented · Able to effectively problem solve and work well under pressure · Bi-lingual (French Canadian) is a strong asset.
