Description
We are excited to be partnering with an organisation embarking on a large community development project.
After many years, they are finally in a position to move forward this project, but require greater internal controls and data integrity in order to achieve success. As such we have been tasked with the deployment of a strong, seasoned Controller to be second in command of the finance function. You will be responsible for finance and management accounting reporting, tax compliance, internal controls and analysis.
Duties
During the contract you will be impacting the business via the following duties
Whilst this is a contract consulting position, there is a strong chance of this becoming a permanent role in time.

• Analyze finance reports for up to 12 partnership and joint venture operations
• Review and approve month, quarterly and annual reports
• Prepare monthly budgetary variance analysis and commentary for executives, committee members and the board
• Maintain financial files and records, prepare all schedules in collaboration with the external accountants, and work with the audit team to ensure it’s completion in a timely manner.
• Ensure consistent efficiency in their internal controls and processes, both for internally and for their owned business operations and JVs
• Review and analyze departmental budgets
• Prepare specialized financial reports for management

Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity, you are a seasoned finance professional at the Controller, bringing at least 10 years of detailed accounting, financial reporting and team management work experience. You are comfortable managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You have a strong accounting foundation and enjoy establishing best practises across teams, with the goal to improve business processes and internal controls
In addition to the above, the following skills are also desired:

• A willingness to dive deep into reconciliations and ensure data integrity
• Work experience implementing and using a broad variety of financial systems and ERP's
• Experience working with general contractors and in a project based environment
• Exposure to c-suite
• CPA designation
• Experience managing audit process with external auditors
• High levels of emotional intelligence
