Job Summary

As a member of the newly-funded three-year McMaster Digital Research Commons Pilot (DRCP), the Digital Research Platforms Analystwill help build a more connected, capable, and researcher-focused approach to digital research support at McMaster. By identifying opportunities to support, augment, and better promote existing services and working with the DRCP Team to pilot new services in key areas of need, the Digital Research Platforms Analyst makes digital services for researchers easier to find and access, while helping McMaster researchers meet their institutional, funder and governmental obligations.


Reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Research Commons Pilot, this position works closely with the rest of the DRCP Team and several units on campus including the McMaster Libraries, the Office of the Vice-President, Research and its supporting units and offices, Faculties, Central IT and various campus IT units and the various communications units on campus.


This position requires a strong and collaborative communicator who can articulate information in concise, logical summaries for audiences with varying levels of technical background. To succeed in this role, you must work collegially and respectfully as part of a team and with diverse stakeholders and subject matter experts including students, research staff and research support staff, and faculty members. The Digital Research Platforms Analyst manages a wide array of communications and internal projects. This role requires independent decision making within a delegated area of authority and the exercise of leadership in coordinating support services.


We are looking for someone whose thoroughness, diligence, and attention to detail allows them to coordinate and implement a variety of complex projects by managing concurrent tasks, setting priorities and milestones, and working to meet tight deadlines. You are comfortable taking ownership of assignments, defining, triaging and delegating tasks to different project teams, and working independently to complete deliverables.


Working with the DRCP Team, you will:

  • Act as the DRCP liaison with the communications teams from the DRCP co-sponsored units: McMaster University Library, University Technology Services, and the Office of the Vice-Present, Research.
  • Manage the ongoing collection, analysis, and communication of statistics and metrics related to the use and effectiveness of service, programming, and resource offerings.
  • Work with members of the DRCP Team in defining the components of projects, developing realistic goals & timelines and meeting regularly with project team to ensure the overall project goal is achieved.
  • Plan, coordinate and implement the DRCP communications and engagement plans; revise the plans under the direction of the DRCP Co-leads
  • Design or work with graphic designers on creating print and digital materials
  • Develop strategies for and execute a comprehensive suite of digital communications including but not limited to recurring email newsletter, website and mailing lists.
