Scope
Hanon Systems, a global supplier of innovative automotive thermal and energy management solutions, is seeking a Commodity Buyer to join our team in our Concord Innovation Center in Concord, ONT. Success in this role will be achieved through strong negotiation skills, superior communication, and managing multiple high-priority tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Skills and Qualifications
1. 2-3 years’ experience in Commodity Purchasing desired, with experience in strategy and sourcing relevant experience within the automotive industry is preferred.
2. Experience in Engineering preferred
3. Bachelor’s degree required; emphasis on supply chain management, business or engineering program
4. Strong negotiation skills resulting in delivered cost reductions.
5. Strong analytical experience and data modeling using Excel.
6. Program Purchasing and/or Program Management experience a plus.
7. Ability to multitask and manage several projects and assignments simultaneously.
8. High sense of urgency and commitment to meeting deadlines.
9. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work product is critical.
10. Demonstrated effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
11. Experience in climate systems commodities preferred
Duties and Responsibilities
- Sourcing selection
- Conduct supplier benchmarking exercises and commercial analyses
- Send RFQs to preferred suppliers based on Commodity Strategy
- Conduct analysis on supplier quotes based on pricing, quality, delivery, and commercial ratings, including completion of Initial Sourcing Rationale
- Negotiate and issue sourcing contracts with suppliers
- Participate in Commodity Strategy development
- Supplier relationship management
- Productivity negotiations
- Deliver costed BOM inputs for new business pursuits (piece price, vendor tooling, timing, etc.)
- Lead/support Supplier Business Reviews with preferred suppliers as defined by Commodity Strategy
- Act as the Purchasing single point of contact for commercial issues
- Manage Risk Mitigation process, including maintaining list of open Purchasing issues (RIOs)
- Support sourcing board meetings and program/phase reviews with cross-functional team to deliver cost and timing targets, as required
- Support Capacity Study confirmations with suppliers, as required
11. Practices and maintains integrity in all business dealings.
12. Creates a positive work environment by demonstrating and sharing functional and technical knowledge.
13. Performs all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all health, safety and environmental rules.
14. Follow the guidelines and rules as set out by the Employee’s handbook and Company policies and procedures.
15. Complies with the designated ISO 14001 responsibilities related to effective management in accordance with Hanon’s Environmental Management System (EMS).
16. Performs tasks and responsibilities detailed in the IATF/TS16949 policies, procedures and work instructions.
