Job Overview:

The Commissioning Process Automation Systems Coordinator will lead the development of Automation/DCS commissioning strategies, execution plans, DCS Plan, and CSU procedures. They will ensure alignment with Project, Engineering, Construction, Pre-commissioning, Commissioning, and Start-up guidelines. This individual will collaborate with various teams to ensure a successful, safe startup of the facility across the project stages, from initiation to final Operations stabilization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure proper CSU documentation is collected, filed, and archived according to standard practice.
• Identify, schedule, and manage vendors and contractors' needs on-site and monitor progress.
• Collaborate with Project, Engineering, Construction, Quality, Procurement, and Operations to ensure a safe and successful startup of the facility.
• Act as the Automation/DCS subject matter expert and mentor to the Project Team.
• Lead the development of Automation/DCS commissioning strategies, execution plans, DCS Plan, and CSU procedures.
• Understand and proactively learn new technology and a wide array of plant systems including electrical, piping, mechanical, controls, instrumentation, and automation systems.
• Understand and participate in the DCS Verification/Inspections, Punchlist and Mitigation Plan, and manage the Test Records and documentation process under the CMS Plan.
• Plan, manage, and prepare equipment and systems for the first time start-up as part of the CSU leadership team.
• Review and edit DCS structure, Process Control Narratives, Cause & Effect matrix, Critical Settings documents, Instrument Indexes, Commissioning Plans, Procedures, and Strategy.
• Develop daily Automation progress reports for the CSU Coordinator.
• Participate in FAT and SAT testing, documenting deficiencies.
• Support EHT testing and validation.
• Coordinate and execute commissioning/testing activities in accordance with the Commissioning Execution Plan and team directives.

Qualifications:

• Experience in Commissioning & Startup of Automated Electrical/Instrumentation equipment in the industrial gas, power generation, and chemical facilities, cryogenic technologies, air separation, syngas, and Co2 capture preferred.
• Strong Automation background in programming and coding; full understanding of industrial process loops and control equipment. High level of understanding of PLC/HMI/SCADA architecture and DCS automated equipment commissioning, interlock verification, VFD’s, and EHT. Siemens control systems experience an asset.
• Experience with major industrial suppliers’ high expectation of corporate safety and environmental directives and requirements.
• Required Safety Certification (OSSA & CSTS): Construction Safety Training System CSTS-20, H2S Alive.
• Certifications (Academic, Professional): Journeyman Automation & Controls/Instrumentation Interprovincial Red Seal or Process/Automation & Control Engineering degree.
• Experience (Role and Industry Specific): 10 years’ work experience; 5 years leading commissioning and start-up activities of automated electrical/mechanical equipment and process control systems.
