Collections Specialist


Our esteemed client in Toronto has partnered with us to find a talented Collections Specialist. This collaborative opportunity aims to minimise commercial risks and maximise cash generation through a meticulous and ongoing collection process. We are seeking a dedicated professional who can deliver exceptional results and contribute to the success of our client's credit and collections operations.


Position Purpose:


The Collections Specialist is responsible for minimising commercial risks and ensuring high cash generation through a rigorous and continuous collection process. This position will play a crucial role in maintaining strong customer relationships and reducing outstanding debt.


Key Results Areas:

The Collections Specialist will be primarily responsible for collection activities but may also be assigned other related tasks as needed.


Collection Responsibilities:

  • Perform other collection tasks as assigned.
  • Communicate policies and procedures in clear and concise language to ensure understanding.
  • Conduct weekly account reviews with the Senior Manager to address potential debt concerns.
  • Adhere to Service Level Agreements within 24 hours based on the Collection Process.
  • Manage raw data for weekly and monthly end stats.
  • Act as a backup for Credit Check processes.
  • Work closely with internal and external customers to address collection matters effectively.
  • Make consistent calls (daily target assigned) and send emails to clients, following the collection process.
  • Review outstanding receivables to reduce outstanding debt and maintain a low Days Sales Outstanding
  • Process monthly statements for customers.
  • Run and format aging reports to assess outstanding balances

Skills:

  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced culture, meeting targets and deadlines.
  • Aptitude to handle a high volume of calls per day
  • Strong prioritisation skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in organizing spreadsheets using Excel, including sorting, Pivot tables, and VLOOKUP
  • Demonstrates due diligence in collection activities.
  • Strong communication skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Problem resolution skills and attention to detail.
  • Clear understanding of credit collection processes.
