Job Title: Chief Operating Officer

The District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board (DSSMSSAB) serves a population of 80,000 people within the City of Sault Ste. Marie, Prince Township, and the Sault North Planning Board area. Services provided to the community include Ontario Works, Early Years Services, Paramedic Services, Social Housing and Infrastructure and Asset Development. The annual operating budget for the corporation is approximately $80 million and the programs offered serve numerous clients, families and the community at large. Sault Ste. Marie is located on the St. Mary’s River, surrounded by the Great Lakes and borders the town of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
The DSSMSSAB is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader for the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO). Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the COO will serve as part of the Senior Leadership Team for the organization. Areas of accountability include Ontario Works, Early Years Services, and Housing Services. The COO has the primary responsibility to plan, direct, and oversee operational initiatives for the current and future needs of the Integrated Service Division. As a senior leader, the COO will contribute to the development and implementation of the corporate strategic plan, long and short range business plans, business monitoring and be accountable for goals and objectives established by the board, in accordance with provincial policy and regulatory requirements.
The preferred candidate will have a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field and will have seven (7) years of progressive management experience and/or five (5) years of senior management experience. A combination of education and experience other than stated above may be considered.
