Reporting to the Program Manager Corporate Real Estate Change Team, the Change and Communication Specialist is a key member of a team that supports strategy, design and project teams in implementing new activity-based workspaces aligned with Sun Life’s Future of Work program. This role is responsible for participating in the development and evaluation of Workplace Strategies to support organizational business objectives and acculturate employees into the new in-office work environments. The position has a broad scope of reach, with the opportunity to work with numerous internal and external business partners.
What will you do?
Change Management/Communications (80%)
  • Partner with the Program Manager Corporate Real Estate Change Team in the planning and execution of change management strategies and plans across multiple projects in Canada and the U.S.
  • Create and deliver of the change and communications plans through the development of written copy, speaking notes, presentations, videos, etc.
  • Analyze and repurpose highly technical information for a variety of internal and external audiences, selecting the appropriate channels for communications, etc.
  • Act in a consulting capacity with project teams and internal partners
  • Act as a delegate for the Program Manager Alternative Workplace Strategy as necessary
  • Provide day-to-day change management advice and counsel to internal partners and project teams as assigned
Project/Program Management (20%)
  • Highlight project risks if change timelines are not being met to the Program Manager Corporate Real Estate Change Team and/or the various project teams
  • Communicate as necessary to the various project teams on project status and deliverables
  • Provide direct support to the Program Manager Corporate Real Estate Change Team in the delivery of Sun Life’s enterprise change management strategy for the Future of Work in Sun Life and offsite locations
  • Continue to build “change management” culture, through maintenance of corporate intranet pages, workplace posts, email communications, etc.
  • Develop, update and maintain the change management components of project plans maintained by Corporate Real Estate’s project delivery team
What do you need to succeed?
  • Ability to work independently and exercise judgment
  • Strong change management and project management skills
  • Ability to work in ambiguous change environments
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Strong team player who works well with other team members and business partners
  • Excellent influencing, negotiating, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interact with and provide advice and counsel to leaders and project team members
What will be nice to have?
  • 2 year’s experience developing employee communications (including decks, emails etc.)
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is preferred
  • University degree in a related field (communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, etc.) is preferred
  • 2-3 years change management experience
  • Familiarity with various communications channels (print, online, audio, video, podcast, blog, etc.)

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
