Job description
Are you a strong communicator with superior organizational skills? Do you enjoy talking with
business owners? Are you passionate about supporting the success of local businesses? The Hyde Park
Business Improvement Association (HPBIA) is seeking energetic Ambassadors to join the team.
Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be a consistently friendly, outgoing
professional with a positive, pro-active attitude capable of juggling a varied workload.
Company Description
The Hyde Park Business Improvement Association (HPBIA) represents businesses in Hyde Park,
Uptown London within the BIA boundaries. The HPBIA supports the continued growth of the BIA
area as a premier destination that is well-connected to the rest of the city, and is beautiful, clean and
vibrant year-round. Activities of the HPBIA include representing the area on key policy and advocacy
issues, beautification, and public realm improvements highlighting the area's vibrancy with activations
and various marketing initiatives.
Responsibilities; Ambassadors
-Primary focus will be in helping to plan, execute and evaluate BIA events, programs and promotions.
Events & Experiences Planning
-Help to arrange logistics, communications, and media for summer promotions and
experiences/events.
-On site event work including set up and take down, liaising with members, supervising volunteers,
providing customer service.
Communications
-Communications with members and partners on a regular basis about a variety of issues, including
but not limited to advocacy, promotion, special projects.
-Help to contribute towards weekly and daily social media content.
-Help to update our online business directory and events calendar daily.
-Liaise with stakeholders, members, media, committees, the BIA Board of Directors, and partners on
projects, initiatives, events and experiences.
-Provide a pleasant, positive, and professional atmosphere for our members and the public when
communicating with our office.
Administration
-Provide administrative support to the BIA staff.
-Support the office in maintaining accurate and organized files for all BIA related activities.
-Help collect assets as required for various HPBIA online applications.
-Database management.
Qualifications
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Strong organizational, planning and administrative skills.
· Time management skills with ability to multitask amidst interruptions .
· Community minded, with a passion and knowledge of Hyde Park and/or London and the local business community.
· Detail and results oriented, deadline driven, extremely organized.
· Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
· College diploma or university degree in business, marketing, communications, event management or a related field.
Additional Information:
30 hours a week from Tuesday to Friday; 9:30-5:00pm
9 Week Canada Summer Jobs Opportunity, starting mid June.
Occasional evening and weekend hours will be required based on events and other business needs,
Salary: $16.00 per hour
