Location: Toronto, Canada with monthly travel to Bentonville, US

About the role

As part of Burnsall’s Finance team, you will play a leading role in identifying opportunities to grow our revenue and improve our profitability through data analysis, process automation and cross-functional projects. Reporting into the Finance Director, you will gain a deep understanding of our business, our partners and our service. You will own and manage projects end-to-end, from analysing data to generating insights to implementing improvements to our processes and services.


We are a small business that is always changing and growing. This creates the opportunity to gain broad exposure to the whole business, by engaging with and contributing to projects not just within Finance but also outside the primary scope of your role.


What you will be doing:


Research and Exploration - Identifying new opportunities to create value

  • Support project lead on visits to potential partners to assess suitability and identify opportunities to create value
  • Support build of business cases for new Upstreaming partnerships
  • Determine KPIs for upstreaming deals and success criteria for potential partners
  • Conduct detailed research into new product categories and industries
  • Web-based company research to identify potential partners


Data management and Analysis – Providing on-going actionable insights

  • Optimize reporting functionality (Power query, Retail link, Euromonitor, SQL) to fit business requirements
  • Clearly communicate results and recommendations to colleagues and to our clients
  • Create business reporting and dashboards to help colleagues & clients monitor business performance and make data-driven decisions to improve KPIs
  • Develop and standardize reporting and analyses that help us solve commercial problems
  • Own relationships with vendor partners and other third parties, building trust and enabling data-informed decision-making
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis on vendors and deals and recommend actions based on data insights


Continuous improvement projects with our vendor partners

  • Evaluate value adding opportunities for existing and new partnerships through vendor and deal specific reports, analysis of workflows and value chains
  • Support implementation of ERP systems
  • Support colleagues and client in the analysis and delivery of continuous improvement projects
  • Support documentation of standard processes


Requirements:

  • Right to work in Canada with a willingness to travel as required
  • At least 2 years of experience in business analysis, consulting, e-commerce, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - ability to identify patterns in data and develop insights
  • Strong SQL and advanced MS Excel proficiency accompanied by good statistical acumen
  • Demonstrated knowledge and interested in improving retail supply chains
  • Knowledge and understanding of key performance indicators related to finance, supply chain, and manufacturing
  • Excellent relationship building skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with a visualization tool (Tableau, Looker, Power BI) is a plus
  • High sense of ownership
