Hiring Manager: Senior Manager, Core Operations
Location Address: Hybrid team meets once a month in office at 333 King Street E need candidates in the GTA.
Contract Duration: ASAP to 10/31/2023 approx. 2.5 months - short due to funding approval
Possibility of extension (for another 6 months, and again 6 more months) & conversion to FTE

Schedule Hours: Standard 37.5 hrs/week (Possible OT on call on a rotation basis once a week every 3-4 weeks) * NOTE: Candidates Need to be OK to work on call on a rotation basis on weekends/evenings as well

Story Behind the Need
Business group: Canadian Digital Banking Engineering Core - The Digital Engineering Operations team is responsible for the production support and operation of the Banks retail Digital Channels (Scotia OnLine and Mobile Banking); Online brokerage (customers who do direct trading, GICs, mutual funds etc.); Mobile Payments and related production applications.
Project: Atlantis project support on application issues for user journeys working on new mobile app for full service with customers who have investment advisors, pilot in Q1 of 2024 and supporting on steady state apps

Typical Day in Role:
The incumbent is responsible for the maintenance, support and change control of Bank's digital channel operations. She/he will part of a team of that will be responsible for incident/problem management of Scotia Online brokerage, Mobile brokerage and related production change activities. The incumbent will perform a liaison role and ongoing interaction between various units including, but not limited to:
Canadian Banking;
Scotia Digital
Technology partners;
Customer facing staff:
QA departments
Vendors
Product groups
Business lines
This position will be focused on leadership, building knowledge base, managing various vendor relationships and the customer impact associated with scheduled and unscheduled production events. Please be aware that on a rotation basis, there will be responsibilities outside of traditional working hours and compensation will be provided.

Must be flexible to adapt to a dynamic environment, balance simultaneous priorities and make quick and sound decisions under pressure.
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
1) 8+ years of total work experience as an Analyst (business analyst, application support analyst, financial analyst) preferably within banking, FI
2) 1+ years’ experience as a Registered Representative (RR) or Investment Representative (IR)
3) 1+ years’ experience writing SQL queries
NOTE: Candidates Need to be OK to work on call on a rotation basis on weekends/evenings as well
Nice-To-Have Skills:
1) Problem management experience
2) Experience as an Application Support Analyst within FI
3) 2+ years’ experience doing incident management with system diagnosis tools e.g., Dynatrace, Splunk (impact, root cause analysis)
4) ITIL certification an asset
5) CFA candidate/charter holder
Soft Skills Required:
Strong logical thinking in understanding end to end use cases, as well as mapping them to system flows.
Curious and experimental mindset to drive innovation amidst uncertainty.
Effective communication and diplomacy skills are required to liaise between groups of varying technical expertise and interests.
Education:
Post-secondary degree in a related field (technical or business)
Completion of the Canadian Securities Course and/or experience support wealth management use cases an asset
ITIL certification an asset
CFA candidate/charter holder
Best VS. Average Candidate:
Ideal candidate has a curious mindset who asks probing questions, helps in growth when doing incident management, has a strong customer focus with understanding of how work impacts the customer; strong in incident management, supporting wealth management user journeys; ability to communicate the customer impact concisely and tie back to system problem and vice versa (e.g. trying to understand why system broken as am impact of a broken customer journey)
