Job Description

New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company, is seeking a Business Analyst to help our client conduct a comprehensive FHIR gap analysis, develop FHIR profiles, and create an implementation guide in collaboration with stakeholders and technical teams. This role requires expertise in FHIR standards and healthcare interoperability to identify gaps to align current of future state systems. The ideal candidate possesses a strong FHIR background and a track record in developing implementation guides for complex healthcare integration projects.


Responsibilities:


  • Gather requirements for FHIR-based solutions
  • Familiar with DevOps processes for agile product development in a cross-functional environment
  • Develop plans for defining requirements complete with approach, stakeholders, schedules, and deliverables
  • Create deliverables such as FHIR Profiles (including patient summary), Implementation Guides, process flows, data dictionaries, business requirements, product requirements, and related materials ‐ for stakeholder approval using leading practice methods and tools
  • Conduct multi-layer data analysis independently by linking data from multiple health information data sources
  • Work closely with the Senior Project Manager and Clinical Informatics Lead to:
  • Manage requirements scope via established change control processes
  • Organize stakeholder engagement sessions
  • Work with the cross-functional teams to create project artefacts, documentation, and reports
  • Produce clear and concise documentation for stakeholders
  • Conduct research and environmental scans related to the use of FHIR-based technologies
  • Create FHIR-based artefacts, FHIR profiles, and implementation guides (e.g., Simplifier.net and other tools)
  • Liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders as advised
  • Produce stakeholder mapping and analysis
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand their needs and translate these into FHIR-based requirements and FHIR profiles
  • Facilitate requirements gathering sessions with multiple stakeholders to extract requirements using leading practice methods and tools


Requirements:


  • Ability to work with operations teams, develop documentation to meet their needs and support the development of training and user resources
  • In depth knowledge developing implementation guides
  • Portfolio samples which clearly demonstrate expertise and experience (integration deliverables, FHIR profiles, implementation guides etc.)
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of experience as a Senior Business Analyst in the healthcare sector in Canada
  • Experience working within the BC Health Sector or similar province-wide health systems
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including facilitating discovery sessions, workshops, developing agendas, requirements elicitation, and facilitating collaboration across a variety of stakeholder groups
  • Certifications (e.g., HL7 FHIR Fundamentals, HL7 FHIR Certified Specialist, HL7 CDA Certified Specialist)
  • Excellent skills gathering technical requirements, processes, workflows, and conducting analysis
  • In depth working knowledge of FHIR, HL7, APIs and use of Simplifier.net
  • Experience working with SMART on FHIR, authorization and authentication layers
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in large-scale healthcare interoperability or integration projects
  • In depth working knowledge with XML and/or JSON
  • Experience analyzing processes and understanding the interactions between various healthcare systems
  • A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of compliance and conformance with national standards such as Canadian FHIR Baseline Profile and Pan-Canadian Patient Summary (PS-CA) Specification
  • Ability to understand and develop data mapping documents
  • Excellent organization and time management and documentation skills
  • In depth knowledge of pan-Canadian Standards
