THE OPPORTUNITY

Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (Triton) is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic individual to join our Calgary or Edmonton office locations in the position of Boat Operator.

The successful candidate will work as part of a field team, reporting to the project office. Transportation will be provided from Calgary or Edmonton to the work site. Responsibilities will include a variety of tasks, including:

• Monitoring of bird activities and manual hazing of non-impacted birds, as well as reporting of other incidental wildlife observations (e.g. coyotes, wolves, bears and ungulates)
• Assist with the deployment, inspection, and maintenance of bird deterrent systems
• Operation of workboats and safety boats in a safe and capable manner
• Conduct basic maintenance and safety inspections of work boats and other project equipment

Skills And Qualifications

• Airboat operations and/or certification is an asset
• Demonstrated experience implementing safe operating procedures, including crew safety briefings and instructions to passengers and crew members
• Valid driver's license from a Canadian province or Territory acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting
• Experienced in the operation of boats
• Solid understanding of small engines and ability to perform basic mechanical diagnostics and maintenance
• Physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions
• Positive attitude, excellent inter-personal skills, and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
• Experience with basic emergency response, lifesaving, rescue, and survival skills
