Excavator Operator - Construction

Whissell is currently looking for an Excavator Operator to join our Edmonton team! The successful candidate will display high attention to detail as they assist the Team with tasks around the site. Reporting to the Foreman and Superintendent the successful candidate will support Whissell’s vision, mission, S.P.I.R.I.T of values, and three daily pillars of Safety, Quality, and Efficiency.*General Responsibilities:** Operates in crowded, fast-paced working environments, and exercises extreme caution with awareness of potential situational hazards to ensure site safety.* Performs effective and safe operation of equipment.* Recognizes existing and potential hazards and knows how to identify these through conducting a field-level pre-job hazard analysis, checking the machine for hazards, and assessing any tasks before starting.* Responsible for the installation of different types/sizes of pipes e.g. Storm, water, and sewer pipe* Responsible for the movement of pipe and placing gravel at specified grades* Assist with backfill and compacting of excavation*Experience/Qualifications:** 2-3 or more years of running a Mainline Excavator* Underground Utility and Earthworks construction experience are required.* High attention to detail is required.* Pay to be determined by skill and experience.* Ensure compliance with all Company policies, OH & S Legislation, and WCB reporting procedures.* Understand and maintain quality and production standards and work to achieve established production goals.* Must have your own transportation.* Must have own steel-toes safety boots.* Seasonal, full-time, and weekends_At Whissell we value diversity of expertise, talent, and opinion creating an innovative and collaborative environment.
