Our Client:

Altas Partners is a leading Canadian private equity firm focused on acquiring significant interests in high- quality, market-leading North American businesses in partnership with outstanding management teams. Based in Toronto, the firm is highly regarded by investors globally, and perceived as a leading, high- quality North American private equity firm. The firm manages approximately US$10B of capital on behalf of sophisticated global institutional investors.


Position Overview:

Currently, the firm is growing their value creation function and is seeking an Associate to join the team. This role will act as a key resource to the firm’s portfolio companies and deal teams and will primarily be responsible for driving initiatives in support of the firm’s objective of being engaged and successful owners of its portfolio companies. Facility with data analytics an asset.


The successful candidate will have proven experience within management consulting or investment banking with an operational overlay. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and motivated individual to take on a highly impactful role in helping to build a high-quality portfolio support function in a growing and prestigious Canadian investment firm.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide optimizing growth solutions for portfolio companies by drafting value creation plans, diagnosing opportunities, and directly implementing initiatives
  • Provide thought leadership to ensure short-term and long-term business optimization during the integration process of new acquisitions
  • Present internal process reviews of portfolios for better internal control through building capabilities within the firm (e.g. documenting best practices, building advanced analytics capabilities, etc.)
  • Assist in company operations keeping in mind the future value creation of the company
  • Prepare and present analysis, reports on fund and portfolio performance and profitability regularly
  • Act as a key driver of initiatives by working in conjunction with management of both the firm and portfolio companies


Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently in an ambiguous environment
  • Self-awareness and understanding of own limitations across capabilities and industries
  • Experience facilitating multiple types of meetings (e.g., strategy, ideation, etc.) with a bias towards inspiring action and delivering results
  • First rate problem solving with strong attention to detail and ability to own problems end to end
  • Knowledge of advanced analytical tools (Tableau, R, etc.)
  • Undergraduate degree from a leading institution in an academically rigorous program; Graduate degree considered an asset
  • Ability to balance a wide range of priorities across multiple projects
  • Work experience with a focus on management consulting, strategy, performance improvement or equivalent private equity operations role
  • Strong commercial awareness/business judgment across a wide range of industries and functional areas
  • Strong storyteller with the ability to put compelling presentations together for a wide range of audiences (boards, portfolio company management, etc.) and outcomes
  • Willingness to travel across North America
  • Ability to develop, deep trusting and collaborative working relationships


Please note that at present, legal eligibility to work in Canada is a prerequisite for this role.
