The Associate Scientist in R&D is motivated and flexible, excited in working in a variety of areas including Genomadix’s DNA test platform. The Associate Scientist is responsible for the day-to-day research activities, which include experimental design & execution, data analysis, and routine laboratory maintenance. The Associate Scientist will perform experiments independently with supervision from senior members of the team.
What you'll be doing:
- Lead experimental design for Genomadix products in development
- Protocol and report writing to support product characterization and verification activities
- Additional duties may be assigned as required
- General laboratory maintenance and organization, such as cleaning and restocking the labs
- Execute experiments in a PCR laboratory setting. May also include working in a Containment Level 2 laboratory with biological samples
- Design and test PCR primers for use in Genomadix assay development
- Comply with company quality policies and operating procedures
- Analyse and present data to the R&D and project teams
What you bring to the table:
- Ability to work under strict timelines
- Bioinformatics/PCR primer design experience is considered a strong asset
- ISO13485 and knowledge of GMP requirements
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Experience with PCR experimental design and execution
- Completion of a post secondary education program in a scientific or engineering field and 2+ years of related experience, and/or a Master’s degree. Related work experience will be considered in-place of a degree (minimum 4+ years). Work experience should include a minimum of 1 year in a product development environment.
This position is an on-site position in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Relocation costs will not be provided/reimbursed by Genomadix.
