Job Description

Reports into the Senior Product Manager who is responsible for managing a strategic product portfolio suite and customer experiences. The Associate Product Manager develops and manages activities from product definition and planning through production, release, and end of life. The Associate Product Manager is mentored by the Senior Product Manager with a path to progress to Product Manager and serve as a key resource as new products are designed, manufactured, tested and marketed.


The Associate Product Manager will support the Senior Product Manager in a variety of areas such as:

  • Maintenance of line activities, product testing and validation
  • Market quantification and analysis
  • Business case development, competitive benchmarking activities
  • Product road-map generation, life-cycle planning and software backlog prioritization


The role requires strong connections to both Sales and Engineering to bridge the gap between departments and bring to life products that fulfill unmet customer needs.


Role and Responsibilities

As Associate Product Manager - Airborne Solutions, you will be responsible for 4 key areas: business performance, product portfolio and roadmap, new product initiatives and market intelligence.


Business Performance

  • Ensure financial targets are met for your portfolio with revenue and margin objectives met in coordination with the Sales team
  • Execute on sales and marketing strategy in areas of pricing, value proposition, campaigns and development of product collaterals
  • Facilitate and maintain an in-person and online presence to maximize product visibility such as at trade shows, conference, and customer visits and in media interviews, discussion forums
  • Support sales and service with advanced product knowledge, competitive analysis and market insights


Product Portfolio and Roadmap

  • Work with Senior members of the product team to define and execute on a product roadmap following best practices procedures
  • Develop strong business cases and technical assessments to push new products and features through a gated approval process
  • Manage your portfolio and product life cycle
  • Secure the voice of the customer and translate needs and industry trends into product requirements and prioritized roadmap plans
  • Collaborate and maintain relationships within other Teledyne Technologies business units to align future product enhancements and delivery of products and services
  • Work with stakeholders to negotiate scope, timelines, and manage expectations


New Products Initiatives

  • Generate innovative ideas for new technology, products and services to maintain a competitive and relevant product portfolio that increases market share
  • Track new products business performance (revenue as share of total sales and RoI)
  • Drive capacity building around new products and features with internal stakeholders and within the sales channel(s)
  • Champion and drive the introduction of new products and services to the market including messaging, launch plan, sales strategy and collateral, as well as provide ongoing leadership in maintaining their relevance and visibility in the marketplace


Market Intelligence

  • Identify potential addressable market opportunities for your products including size, growth and segmentation
  • Have an awareness of industry standards and specifications relevant to the technologies, methodologies and applications of your product portfolio
  • Monitor competitor’s offerings and activities


Skills

  • Ability to navigate and exert influence within the business and organizational hierarchy
  • Self-propelled, proactive and confident leader that can bring people together to deliver results
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with the practice of Agile software development is an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; fluency in another language is an asset
  • Product development experience and financial acumen
  • Good understanding of the relevant markets and customers
  • Experience with Cloud technologies is an asset
  • Proven requirement gathering skills
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment in a collaborative manner


Qualifications

  • Airborne lidar applications and market space
  • Intermediate level of knowledge in the areas of:
  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Geomatics, Science or Engineering or related field
  • Familiarity with industry standard software programs
  • Technical understanding of lidar and complementary sensing technology
  • Lidar and image processing methodologies and workflows
  • 3 years product, support, sales or business development experience in Surveying, Aerial Mapping, Hydrography, Civil Engineering (or other relevant engineering applications)
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally
