Your Role
Reporting to the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent will play an important role with the daily management of home construction at a Cachet Homes master-planned community. The ideal candidate has 3+ years' experience in a high production homebuilding or construction environment and is a driven, results-oriented person who prioritizes quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
Opportunities available at projects in either Ayr, Bradford, or Cambridge, Ontario.
Responsibilities:
- Walks all homes on site daily to ensure imperfections are noted, Ontario Building Code is adhered to, and homebuyers' options are completed.
- Drives quality and enforces trade scopes of work
- Resolves day-to-day construction issues on site, inspecting all construction work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications
- Conducts detailed frame checks on each unit before drywall and follows up to ensure timely completion of any items noted.
- Monitors all daily trade functions, including timeliness, quality of workmanship and completion of work
- Trains and mentors site staff
- Ensures homes are clean and trade ready
- Orders necessary materials required to construct houses
- Assists the Superintendent in managing construction of assigned homes, assuming shared responsibility for each home meeting ALL standards.
- Attends regular staff meetings.Comes prepared to discuss safety, quality, production timelines.
- Enforces safety standards and laws on-site to ensure all work is being done safely
- Supervises on-site construction staff, including the scheduling of subcontractors, inspectors, and suppliers
- Schedules and attends necessary municipal inspections.
What You Bring:
- Drive to excel with a willingness to take responsibility and be held accountable for results
- Knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and other health and safety regulations
- Proficient in MS Office software
- Experience with NEWSTAR
- 3+ years' experience in a high production homebuilding or construction environment
- Strong organizational skills
- Driven to train and mentor staff and to delegate as required
- Understanding of contracts, plans, and specifications, as well as construction methods, materials, and regulations. Includes knowledge of all trades, staff responsibilities, scheduling, and scopes of work
- Superior interpersonal skills: able to build and maintain positive relationships with a broad network of contacts, including trade partners and suppliers
- Strong oral and written communication skills
