As an Applications Engineer you will bridge the gap between technical expertise and sales success by effectively demonstrating the value and capabilities of technical products or solutions to customers. The Applications Engineer plays a key role in the customer journey, supporting the customer experience from quote to product delivery.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

Technical Sales Support: You will provide technical expertise and support to the sales team throughout the sales process. You will assist in understanding customer needs, identifying appropriate solutions, and presenting technical demonstrations and proposals.

Solution Design and Customization: This position collaborates with customers to understand their requirements and identify an existing solution or recommend a custom solution. You will work closely with the technical team to customize and configure products or services to meet customer specifications.

Product Demonstrations and Presentations: The applications engineer may participate in conducting product demonstrations, shop tours and deliver presentations to showcase the features, benefits, and capabilities of the products or solutions they are selling. In this role, you need to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, acting as trusted advisors. Handle customer inquiries, provide technical support, and address any concerns or issues that may arise.

Technical Consultation: Provide technical expertise and guidance to customers during the sales process. Assess customer environments, identify technical challenges, and provide recommendations and solutions to address them effectively.

Proposal Development and Pricing: In this role, you will assist in the creation of proposals, quotes, and pricing models. You will ensure that proposals align with customer requirements and effectively communicate the value proposition.

Training and Knowledge Sharing: You are expected to stay up to date with product updates, new technologies, and industry best practices. You will participate in training programs and certifications to enhance your technical knowledge. You will also share your expertise and knowledge with the sales team, conducting training sessions or workshops.

Engineered Drawings: Compile and review customer drawing packages prior to release to the customer and for manufacturing. Ensure as-built drawings are reviewed and issued to the customer after shipment.

Project Management: Post sale, the applications engineer is responsible for internal kickoff to ensure work on drawings, BOMs and schedule is understood and actioned internally. As part of this role, you will provide updates to the customer through the production process to ensure product delivery meets customer schedule. Post shipment, the applications engineer is responsible for reviewing and providing the client binder to the customer.

Education and Experience:

Education and Technical Background : A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, is typically preferred.

Technical Sales Experience: Prior experience in a customer facing role is highly valued. This could include experience as a sales engineer, applications engineer, technical sales representative, or similar positions. Familiarity with sales processes and customer relationship management (CRM) systems are advantageous.

Project Management Experience: Prior experience managing projects in a dynamic environment to ensure deliverables are met within the constraints of a project. Success will require collaboration with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Work Related Experience : Prior experience in an oil and gas facilities engineering, field operations, manufacturing or an EPC role is advantageous. Experience with power generation, air compression and electrical systems is also considered an asset.

Technical Expertise: Demonstrated technical knowledge and proficiency in the specific products, technologies, or industry domain relevant to the role is essential. The candidate should have a solid understanding of the technical aspects of the products or solutions they will be selling, as well as the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Communication and Presentation Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are crucial for an applications engineer. The candidate should be able to articulate complex technical concepts in a clear and compelling manner.
