The Volunteer’s Role

Under the supervision of our partner organization Integración, Gobernabilidad y Economía Circular (INGEC), you will contribute to the implementation of urban agriculture projects in the South of Lima in the districts of Villa El Salvador, Villa Maria del Triunfo and San Juan de Miraflores. The projects involve the creation and strengthening of agro-ecological community gardens and the creation and strengthening of agro-ecological school brigades.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Strengthen capacities in leadership, gender equity and social inclusion.
  • Promote and implement awareness-raising actions with school green brigades.
  • Strengthen good environmental practices and peaceful coexistence in schools.
  • Promote and implement integration and healthy coexistence activities in community gardens.
  • Promote workshops with children and adolescents from agroecological brigades in schools.
  • Carry out follow-up activities, monitoring and systematization of information.
  • Design session plans and methodological tools for workshops with farmers, children and adolescents.


Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture, sociology, social work, anthropology, psychology or related degree.


Essential Background:

  • Experience working in a developing country
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • 2-5 years of professional experience in related subjects.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Creativity, judgement and ability to work both independently and in teams

Fundraising

We ask each volunteer, regardless of placement length, to raise $2,000. All volunteers receive support from Cuso International to help achieve the goal through fundraising. If the volunteer chooses not to fundraise or is unable to achieve the fundraising goal, he/she can make a one-time donation or become a monthly donor to support our work.
