Who We Are


The Region of Peel is a municipal funded long term care provider operating 5 homes in Peel. Peel was the first provider in Ontario to create a Butterfly Home. Working together with Meaningful Care Matters , we created a place that improves the well-being of the people living with dementia using innovative, person-centred approaches to meet their complex needs. We are looking for an Administrator/Executive Director to guide a team of dedicated long term care professionals in striving to provide the ultimate resident experience by leading, mentoring and supporting the Sheridan Villa team to work together to achieve this goal, and celebrate the excellent work we do.

What You Will Do In This Role


Reporting to the Director, Long Term Care (LTC) you will be responsible for the overall operations including resident care, labour relations, fiscal performance, and compliance with pertinent legislation and standards.


You will support an organizational commitment to continuous quality improvement and service excellence. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and building positive internal and external relationships and partnerships.


You will contribute your knowledge and expertise to best enhance and deliver resident programs and services within the home and as part of a larger organizational team, the LTC Division and Region of Peel.


You are a passionate and strategic leader and will work to create a positive working environment for all staff. You will leverage and enhance skills, coach and be a strong mentor to position others for success and drive workplace satisfaction.


You have a desire to learn, grow and share best current practices with your peers and team. You will have a direct impact on contributing to business change and innovation in streamlining the work done across our five homes.


What The Role Requires


  • Successful completion of a program in long term care home administration or management that is a minimum of 100 hours in duration of instruction time
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards, and the ability to interpret and administer multiple collective agreements in the Ontario setting
  • A minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity in the health care or social services sector
  • Knowledge of all relevant legislation and regulations governing long-term care sector and provincially regulated health care organization including the Fixing Long Term Care Act and Ontario Regulation 246/22, Occupational Health and Safety Act etc.
  • A post-secondary degree in Health Sciences, Management, Business, Public Administration, or related field
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered


Skills/Abilities


  • Strong leadership skills to guide and direct the fulfillment of the requirements of LTC Homes Act and Region of Peel service standards
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
  • Proven ability to communicate and provide excellent customer services with residents and their families
  • Demonstrate lifelong learning and ongoing professional development in order to remain informed of changes related to leadership and management including but not limited to long-term care and health services
  • Excellent budgeting skills to develop and oversee the approved budget of the home
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong organizational skills to direct the centres’ activities and operations and ensure optimum allocation and utilization of resources
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) to interpret legislation, prepare reports, develop policies and effectively convey information and provide direction to a diverse population
