Job Description

Accounts Payable Coordinator – Contract (12–14-month maternity cover)

c$50,000 plus benefits & 2 weeks of vacation (Free on-site parking)


Our client located in the West GTA is a highly respected construction company that is looking to hire for a long-term contract as an AP clerk.


We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable clerk to join their accounting team. The Accounts Payable clerk will have full cycle accounts payable responsibilities and assist with the month-end closing.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand and follow established rules, procedures and policies relating to the position.
  • Process 100-150 invoices on a monthly basis
  • Prepare all reports for the monthly client packages.
  • Prepare checks/electronic funds transfers (EFT) ensuring vendors are paid in a timely manner; match invoices to payment documents and process outgoing related mail.
  • Ensure that all invoices are reviewed and processed with accuracy, using proper GL account classification and three-way matching process.
  • Understand subcontractor invoicing process, reconcile the value of work to date by verifying entries and comparing to system reports.
  • Maintain orderly filing system, scan vendor invoice packages and payment documentation to the electronic archive.
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions, as assigned.
  • Verify vendor/ trade accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
  • Process employee expense reports, timely and accurately submit to payroll for payment processing.
  • Resolve purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies.


Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or a combination of technical accounting education, training and experience.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with accurate and complete data.
  • Must be able to use initiative to set priorities and solve problems.
  • Must have an AP background in construction
  • Working experience with accounting software packages.
  • Strong communication skills (English - both written and oral)
  • Advanced organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Confident in handling relationships with vendors / trades, clients and employees.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office and advanced Excel.
