MAJOR DUTIES
The ABM Lead – Lean Manager is responsible for promoting and facilitating the successful implementation of the ATS Business Model within ATS Automation, and specifically with continuous improvement, goal deployment (Hoshin planning), lean and growth-specific actions throughout the organization. Add Process Improvement (ABM 2nd priority) as the major focus for the role and inclusive of operations as well as all holistic elements such as project management, sales, logistics, supply chain, etc. ABM will be a component as the facilities ABM champion representative but 80% will be around Sr. Mgmt. initiatives use Work Flow and Value Stream mapping exercises to reduce waste and increase margins.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Ensure productive kaizen events
  • Promote and facilitate associate development in various ABM tools, transactional improvements, and kaizen leadership
  • Benchmark and incorporate best practices within ATS and outside organizations
  • Drive ever-improving results by leveraging ATS Business Model (ABM) tools, consulting skills, and change management process.
  • Major Lean tools: Current State vs. Future State Workflow and Value Stream Mapping as a foundation for CI, Inventory Kanban, Program Management Kanban, Visual Management, OEE, 5S, Obeya, Gemba, Heijunka Level Scheduling, Hoshin Kanri, Kiazen, KPIs, Muda, PDCA, Root Cause Analysis, AAR/After Action Reviews, SMED, etc.
  • Directly provide formal and informal ABM training and coaching
  • Assist ATS leadership in the development and execution of an ABM roadmap at ATS
  • Driving ABM culture and building ABM excellence within the organization.
  • Promote and facilitate diagnosis of workflow impediments and other wastes throughout the business, and provide expert counsel on appropriate tools to eliminate them
  • 80% Sr. Mgmt Initiatives, 10% ABM, 10% Safety Support
  • Assist in establishing and achieving the Goal Deployment and Strategic Plan objectives
Qualifications
Education:
A four-year Engineering degree or equivalent is required, specializing in electronics, electrical, mechanical or controls engineering is preferred. MBA or master’s degree is also preferred. Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or greater is highly desired.
Experience:
  • Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management
  • Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations from a “general manager’s” point of view
  • Hands-on experience driving continuous improvement, including Transactional Process Improvements
  • Good writing and administrative skills, including computer skills (word processing, graphics, spreadsheet, etc.)
  • Ability to design, develop, and implement an ABM (continuous improvement) roadmap for an operating business
  • Superior communications skills including being able to communicate to all levels of the organization including those where English is not their primary language
  • 4-8 years of Operations, Engineering, Supervisory, and/or Management experience in a Lean-Driven Manufacturing Environment
  • Superior training skills and adult learning theory
  • Superior consulting/influencing skills
  • Familiarity with various operational and commercial process and tools (eg. Sales, order processing, distributor management, CRM, ERP)
  • Exposure to and participation in a wide variety of training environments
  • Mastery of a variety of ABM (lean) tools and methodologies
