Mechanical Design Engineering Technologist Jobs

Minimum post-secondary educational requirement - completion of a post-secondary Technology Diploma in an appropriate discipline.

Defining customer requirements and project scope, creating and maintaining customer data,

Ensuring all service product requirements are collected,

Explaining FortisBC processes, procedures and requirements to customers,

Conveying related permit requirements to customers,

Drafting written work procedures (per company standard OHS 03-14) for manager’s review and approval,

Minimum of 3 years of experience in Custom Single Family Home design.

Prepare 3D Sketchup architectural & interior design model including import/export of data with engineers & consultants.

Prepare architectural drawings for residential custom homes including permit documentation and construction details.

o Effective communication and reporting skills for meetings with management to keep them informed of important developments

o Excellent coordination skills to enable cooperation between technical staff and management

o Strong sense of time management, scheduling time for various projects

o Collaborate with sales team and project managers

o Previous experience as a manufacturing industry engineer, industrial designer or similar role

o Thorough knowledge of how production lines and other manufacturing processes operate along with fabrication methods

­Accountable for the group’s talent development through active coaching, mentoring, training, and front-line management of both the leaders and team members.

Support the Project Managers with commercial strategies during project execution (i.e. scope changes, resourcing priorities, narrative management).

Experience with cycle time analysis/simulations, process and flow breakdowns, and the development of critical requirements / specifications to drive design solutions.

Years of Experience Required: 2-5+ years proven hands-on experience in 2D drafting, 3D modeling and engineering design/integration projects

A Diploma in Civil Engineering or Engineering Design and Drafting Technology. Equivalent combinations of education and Experience will be considered

3 years’ experience in lot grading, roadways, sewers and water design in Land Development and Municipal projects

Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Office and other general applications), with working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D

Prepare detailed design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D for a variety of assigned Municipal and land development engineering projects

Prepare conceptual, preliminary plans and report figures

Having experience in 3D modelling and drawings and previous technical internships;

Mechanical design following a training on CAD using NX 1899 software and an introduction to geometric tolerancing;

Creation of 3D CAD models with associated drawings and documentation;

Participation in team meetings and brainstorming sessions;

Creation of mass budgets and parts lists as well as support to purchasing and manufacturing activities.

Having completed a second year in the bachelor of Mechanical Engineering program including a course in 3D modelling;

Manage team with functional responsibilities of design engineering, drafting and procurement.

Demonstrated ability to partner and communicate with cross functional internal/ external engineering and project management teams.

Proven experience in the successful specification, procurement and troubleshooting of gas processing equipment for $10M+ projects.

Strong background working with Syngas, Hydrogen and RNG processing equipment is preferred, but transferrable experience will be considered.

Strong business acumen and analytical skills, and the ability to apply business logic in decision- making and problem-solving.

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Working knowledge of Cloudworx, Jetstream 3D Modeling, Navisworks, and AutoCAD CAD programs in general

Previous experience working with CAD standards & Procedures preferred

Experience with process piping, pumping, equipment and layout design, HVAC and building services

Minimum 5 years of industry experience

Must have experience with 3D CAD software – Solidworks preferred

Knowledge of steel fabrication, machine shop processes and mechanical system expertise (conveyors, processing equipment, etc.).

Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines.

Check in and check out drawings through the LP Drawing management system following drawing control practices

Expert drafting skills, with experience in AutoCAD; experience with drawing and CAD standards

Utilizes industry best practices and established standards to ensure drawings adhere to corporate and professional requirements.

Diploma in an Engineering Technology discipline from a recognized polytechnic institution, or a relevant combination of drafting training and experience.

A minimum of 7 years progressively responsible drafting experience with a large oil and gas operator or engineering service provider.

Experience working with data acquisitioning system, strain gauges, accelerometers, and/or load cell will be an asset;

Experience with 5-axis milling machine will be an asset;

3D printing experience will be an asset;

Electrical experience is an asset;

Construction site experience will be an asset;

10+ years of hand-on experience in mechanical and/or heavy fabrication industry;
