Role Title: Distribution Regional Engineer - P.Eng Required

LEED certification/experience in sustainable design (LEED projects) is an asset.

Experience in working independently to manage deadlines and coordinate with team members

Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours.

Conduct site visits for surveys, prepare reports, and address technical issues with the project manager.

5-10 years of Electrical Engineering experience.

Skilled production of presentation & working drawings.

Project Management experience is a plus.

3-5 years of experiene in certification.

Detailed knowledge of the technical vocabulary common to the appropriate discipline.

Working knowledge of conformity standards in use in area of expertise.

What you’ll experience working at UL:

Communicates project status and results to clients through frequent contact and by preparing reports. Prepares Follow-Up Service Procedures and information pages.

Broad range of distribution related skills including planning, system engineering, protection engineering, design, and project management

Engage with senior engineering team where engineering problems are difficult, complex, or unusual to support management of engineering risk.

Experience with underground electric utility distribution systems operating at voltages at or below 35kV.

Perform periodic tasks independently which may include on-site construction quality control and monitoring to ensure design compliance.

Support operations, maintenance, repair, replacement and expansion of the company's Distribution System.

A minimum four (4) years of in a relevant engineering field or equivalent

Preparing or reviewing typical design documentation (design requirements, schematics, board layouts, technical specifications, and data sheets)

Apply independent diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices

Experience of Maritime Domain (desirable)

Experience of Underwater Warfare Domain (desirable)

Experience with electronic design to military and safety standards.

Experience with peripherals such as SPI, I2C, UART, etc.

Minimum five (5) years’ experience in project management, including project initiation, planning, cost estimation, and scheduling.

Knowledgeable of the requirements of the Canadian Electrical Code and the Manitoba Electrical Code.

Ensuring that work within his/her responsibility is performed to meet or exceed applicable quality, code, regulatory and customer requirements.

Establishing requirements for external design activities.

Supervising other Engineers and Design Representatives at the direction of the Engineering Manager.

Performing other duties as assigned by manager.

Experience in Customer Support or airline operations (Maintenance Control/Engineering and/or Fleet Management/Fleet Technical Support) is a strong asset.

You should have deep knowledge in Electrical systems, airline in-service support, Front desk airlines.

Responding to customers’ technical queries, which involve resolving a wide range of long-term in-service issues of the aircraft platform.

Act as liaison engineering between the CRC and ISE.

Support other Customer Support Departments with technical queries.

Knowledgeable in Alberta Electric Utility Code and CSA Standard requirements

5+ years of experience in electrical distribution systems with knowledge of underground and aerial distribution design and construction methods

Qualifications & Technical Software Skills

Interact with customers and other team members regarding project requirements and progress updates.

Excellent communication skills both written and oral

Intermediate to advanced skills with MicroStation and AUTOCAD are considered an asset.

The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work usually results from progressive experience

Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes in programs and applications

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or demonstrated equivalency of experience

Good communication skills at all levels, both in oral presentation and written reports.

B.A.Sc. in Electrical (or Mechatronics with strong electronics skills) required

BOM, Schematic and PCB experience

Hands-on experience building, testing and troubleshooting electronic circuits

Hands-on experience with test equipment including signal analyzers, vector network analyzers, signal generators and oscilloscopes

Knowledge of RF fundamentals and design an asset

Up to 4 years of experience in electrical design engineering consulting
