Will be responsible for a number of duties to assist in overall functioning of the lab and graduate student research projects.

Will be responsible for reconciling accounts and maintenance of lab financial records.

Will be responsible for the receipt, processing, storage and inventory of clinical samples.

Will assist, where required, with the approach and consenting of individuals (patients and healthy donors) to research studies.

Reports directly to faculty member, where needed, for experiments and for organizational tasks.

Familiarity with database software such as REDCap and statistical methods

Writing reports and assisting with the preparation of manuscripts based on results from completed data analyses

Support the assessment of participant eligibility and electronic recruitment

Consent from parents of youth < 17 years or from patients 17 years and older, and

Plans and performs nutrition experiments, utilizing complex procedures or techniques; troubleshoots problems; collects, records, analyzes and interprets experiment results.

Writes reports, papers, presents research results at laboratory meetings and assists with the writing of grant applications.

Sets up, tests, operates and maintains common laboratory and other equipment, including a HPLC, Amino Acid Analyzer, Human Milk Analyzer.

Assist in running a laboratory, performing tasks, such as, purchasing supplies and minor equipment and maintaining parts of accounts.

Provides training to undergraduate and new graduate students in the use of equipment, techniques and procedures.

6.Understand safety discipline in manufacturing processes and food ingredient specifications to meet customer needs and regulatory requirements.

7.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

1.Report to the Director of Product Development and assist in fulfilling a federally funded research project.

2.Perform research experiments for multiple projects and maintain the records.

3.Analyse samples with HPLC and other equipment using lab protocols.

4.Assist in scale-ups of new product development upon request.

Experience with data analysis packages and database management.

Specific knowledge of RedCap, PubMed and Anstrackr software is important to manage data.

Educational preparation specific to the field of injury prevention with an interdisciplinary perspective is preferred.

General knowledge of grant processes and organizational structures on site and at UBC.

Report directly to the Principal Investigators, Drs Hal Siden,Tim Oberlander, and Ian Pike

Developing protocols in collaboration with principal investigators
